Yet again I have learned about battles of the Napoleonic Wars I never would have known if not for the Stockwin - Kydd books! In the stories of Tenacious, Lt. Thomas Kydd travels the Mediterranean, following Vice-Admeral H. Nelson to the Nile River in order to abort Napoleon Bonaparte's attempt to control that strategic river via his navy. This is a battle I never knew happened - as well as the battle for Acre, which was fought on land by British Navy personnel along side native groups to secure the land from Bonaparte's undefeated land troops. Besides these two huge battles, which are described vibrantly through the eyes of Mr. Kydd, there are smaller battles during the progression of the British ships through the Mediterranean.

Outstanding entry in an excellent series. Good story telling enriched by sufficient technical details to engage the Age of Fighting Sail aficionados without overwhelming the less inclined. Hero growing and learning from mental introspection and physical trial and error. Penetrative looks, via Renzi's "trials by father", into social and economic issues of the day.
