About this audiobook

Many believers feel stunted in their Christian growth. We beat ourselves up over our failures and, in the process, pull away from God because we subconsciously believe He tallies our defects and hangs His head in disappointment. In this newly repackaged edition-now with full appendix, study questions, and the author's own epilogue, “Ragamuffin Ten Years Later,” Brennan Manning reminds us that nothing could be further from the truth. The Father beckons us to Himself with a “furious love” that burns brightly and constantly. Only when we truly embrace God's grace can we bask in the joy of a gospel that enfolds the most needy of His flock-the “ragamuffins.”

I remember this book being really interesting. A good look at how to belong to God and what that means. It's a good look at how to deepen one's connection and relationship with God. I remember liking it a lot when I identified as Christian. It felt like it resonated with my idea of who God and I were to each other.

While honestly quite unorthodox in places, the Ragamuffin Gospel is a beautifully written description of the messy nature of a human life, and a welcome reminder that the love of Jesus is of central priority to the Christian faith.

If you are weary of religious doctrines that no longer sound like the Good News, this book will refresh your soul.

Many of the thoughts expressed in this book seemed to be opinions and not based on thorough biblical study. Many of the ideas expressed in the book were very profound and gave a beautiful view of God but, other thoughts were conflicting and didn’t seem to be sound theology.

This book had a profound impact on my understanding of my relationship to God. Instead of being a God of punishment and judgement, God is presented as a loving and nurturing parent. For those longing for a relationship with God, but have been scarred by past attempts, this is a great book for you.
