About this audiobook
When Hunter Buchanon rescued a wounded coyote pup-and named him Bobby Lee-he had no idea the cute little varmint would grow up to be such a loyal companion. Coyotes aren't known to be man's best friend. Most of them are as fierce and wild as the Black Hills they roam. But Bobby Lee is different. When Hunter is ambushed on the road, Bobby Lee leaps to his defense. And when the attacker tries to shoot Bobby Lee, Hunter returns the favor by hitting the man with a rock. By the time the smoke clears, the coyote-loving ex-Confederate is covered in blood-and the other guy's got a knife in his chest. Now Hunter has to explain it all to the local sheriff. Which is going to be tough. Because the man he just killed is the sheriff's deputy . . .

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Title: The Black Hills (A Hunter Buchanon Western #1)Author: William W. Johnstone and J. A. JohnstonePages: 432Year: 2018Publisher: PinnacleMy rating: 5 out of 5 starsRight from the start readers are drawn into the story of Hunter Buchanon and his rescued coyote companion Bobby Lee. Hunter has put away his guns after the war between the states; his desire is to live peaceably. However, the town sheriff and his cohorts come after Hunter with guns blazing and a singular goal…to take him out!Hunter lives with his father and two brothers, making a brew that they sell to local saloons. One day Hunter is making a delivery when his future is radically altered. The encounter leaves a deputy dead. Hunter takes the body to town to report to the sheriff what occurred, but the sheriff and his other deputized guns don’t care and from there a fight ensues. Hunter and his family become embroiled in a fight for life when another man seeks to kill Hunter because his daughter is in love with him. Annabelle wants to marry Hunter and they have plans, but will they come to fruition? Family means the world to Hunter and the more the other side pushes the more Hunter knows that sooner or later he’ll have to break his word and pick up his guns.I was entranced by the conflict that was building between the disgraced sheriff, Anabelle’s father and the man Annabelle is being forced to marry. In this first book of the Hunter Buchanan series, the love between Anabelle and Hunter is strong and appears to be able to withstand many attacks as well as setbacks. Annabelle’s brother, Cass, is a no-good man whose only asset is his looks. Wait until you read what happens to him! Ludlow thinks he owns his daughter lock, stock and barrel but he just might see she cannot be intimated like everyone else when around her father. For nonstop action and adventure, the Hunter Buchanon series is a must read for people who enjoy westerns, romance, and action! Audiences will find themselves hoping the adversaries of the Buchanons get their just desserts and that Annabelle and Hunter can live happily ever after. Be prepared to burn the midnight oil when reading this exciting novel! Then read the second book, Blood in the Dust, that continues the Buchanon saga.Note: The opinions shared in this review are solely my responsibility.
