You can certainly tell a man was involved in writing this. There is a lot of male gaze and objectification. I'd say it's a less complex story than the original series. Kit's character is well done, so I will read the next one. Just a waste of talent on a clearly sub-par work.

Don't get me wrong. A really good book. For some reason I just wasn't into it as much as the Spellbound and Demonized series. Maybe because there were only a few blurbs abut these characters in those series? Or cause it was about magical cops? Hoping now that I made it through the tangled explanation of what Kit actually is the next ones in this series will be more enjoyable.

This was a great journey. I had a little trouble settling in, likely because I haven't enjoyed a male POV book in a hot minute. Once I was hooked, I did not want to put it down. If you like detective plots and a twisting storyline that keeps you guessing, you will love this book.

I'm going through the Guild Codex series in order, as much as possible, and I was unsure about taking on Kit's story instead of just continuing Tori's. I'm glad I did!! Getting to see how MAGIPOL's inner workings -work- is going to give interesting insight as I pick up the next book in the series!! And, I'm a bit sad to wait on reading the next Kit book!

Great book. Save this author! The backstory for Kit Morris and a good beginning for us to be introduced to the MPD and the brilliant Agent Lienna Shen. Kit and Lienna are hilarious together and bond quickly, but Lienna is a stickler for the rules and the law. He comes across a little boyish due to his past trauma and upbringing. Kit has wit, charm and integrity despite the criminal he's become. We are with Kit in a journey to learn about this "Mind Warping" he can do and what it entails. Kit doesn't seem to know either. I'm loving these Codex books and the narrator was awesome.

Totally love Annette Marie, she is my favorite author, great story line , captivating, funny , BUT, not a fan of the narrator. Specially the female voices .
