Caroline (Peaches) and Liam (Jagger)
So there’s a lot going on in this book and I say that in all the best ways. These books have been building up to something major and we finally have a huge conclusion that just may tear the entire MC apart. With that being said from beginning to the very end there’s something and I mean a lot of something’s going on like love, tragedy, healing, war, pain and a happy ending these two characters so much deserve... This book takes place in the NM charter with heavy tie in's and characters from the original charter as the overall story arch comes to a head... If you can find them I highly recommend reading the shorts Outside the Lines SOT book 2.5 & Hollow Hearts: A Son's of Templar Novella before starting this one for better story arch narrative.
Years ago both Caroline and Liam lived very different lives they both had tragedies define and change their lives and they also both found ways to live. Even if they were only half lives because the tragedies that struck changed something fundamental in them both. Caroline is always seeking the truth even if it brings her to dangerous places where ugly is all there is. Now back home in the states Caroline has her sights set on the Sons of Templer MC not knowing that the second she walks into their compound her life would change in ways she never would have guessed and never could come back from.
“Every moment here gets me closer to the deadline. Or damnation. I’m not sure which will come first.”-Caroline
"I knew better than anyone how cheap life was in war. No, even in times of peace, life was cheap. In times of war life was worth nothing, death was worth only a little more, as markers in a score book that no one would be considered a victor in."
Great quote from Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts, “The truth was a bully we all pretended to like.” The author has used this extremely well
Are we ever going to get books 8 and 9 of this series, or the 2 shorts that help tie in people from the New Mexico charter before getting to this one?
While these books can technically be read as stand alone I do not recommend that! I recommend looking the author up online and the reading order of this series with the other 2 connected series (Unquiet Mind and Greenstone Security) that weave through this series both in timeline and character wise, for the overall story arch, if that is important to you. It was to me. I feel like you get much more from the story that way and a deeper connection to all of the other characters. Then following up these 3 series with the Sons of Templar: New Mexico series. This was another excellent story with a healthy dose of angst, these books are dark compared to most romance. Considering it is an MC romance I assume that most expect that going into it. You will either love them or hate them... I personally love them all so far! I really wish all of them were available here, unfortunately most of them are not. I am not even sure the other 3 series are even available in audio form... I have just read them and saved the audiobooks for times when I cant take the time to sit down with a book.
