Watch your back

I'm coming for you

Lylah and her friends can't wait to spend a night out together. Partying is the perfect way to let loose from the stress of life and school, and Lylah hopes that hitting the dance floor with Chace, her best friend, will bring them closer. She's been crushing on him since they met. If only he thought of her the same way . . .

The girls are touching up their makeup, and the guys are sliding on their coats when the doorbell rings. No one is there. An envelope sits on the doormat. It's an anonymous note addressed to their friend Sonny. A secret admirer? Maybe. They all laugh it off.

Except Sonny never comes home. And a new note arrives:

It was good. I didn’t see the end coming. I’m just so ever slightly confused [SPOILER ahead so stop now] why did her brother, emphasis on her brother, bite her neck and grab her like some obsessed love struck stalker? Other than that, it was good.

A mediocre young adult novel. Not bad, just nothing sufficiently unique or interesting to warrant reading. Characters do not always act within their pre-established motives, the cops are terrible at their job, repetitive, and ending seemed improvised.
It would have earned one more star if there were clues about the ending throughout the book. Author should have rewritten sections after writing the ending so that they could have foreshadowed better.

Very good, keep you guessing, on the edge of seat

Super predictable. Definitely could have been written better with more suspense.

This book really annoyed me. The story itself was not bad, but the characters were absolutely unbelievable. I don’t want to give too much away, but my biggest annoyance was with the way they all jumped to the conclusion that one person was doing the murders. these kids act more like middle school children than college aged kids. The whole process of handling this case was so incredibly ridiculous that at times I had to just laugh. So I’m going with three stars for the story alone and the laughs. “Your Turn” says the note. Yeah, not so much.

This book was provided to me free of charge by Edelweiss. I am reviewing it voluntarily. You will be mine is a simple but twisted thriller, revolving around Lylah and her 5 roommates. Threatening notes start showing up; people start dying. It's pretty typical stuff, exciting but not terribly original. It bothers me that the roommates decide who the killer is very early in the story. Without any kind of evidence or solid motive, they determine that it must have been a former friend because he left school four months after being rejected by Lylah. It's very random and contrived. The climax isn't all that surprising, and the final page possibly alluded to an absolutely unnecessary sequel. I'm giving 3 stars because the writing isn't bad, and I read the entire book and was entertained, if not impressed.
