Cookie Chanel, owns a vintage clothing store, "It's Vintage, Y'all". Her best friend, Heather owns the occult shop adjoining her building. Heather helps Cookie deal with the ghosts that seem to follow her around and need her help in the books. In the last book, we found out that Windsong, Cookie's cat, shares its body with the spirit of her grandmother. Windsong communicates with Cookie using a Ouija board and Tarot cards that Heather has to interpret. The stories are fun and once again Charlotte, the first ghost to appear to Cookie, is present in all her sassy glory. to Cookie by moving a planchette around a Ouija board. This book introduces us to two new ghosts, Maureen and Ramon.

In this story, Cookie has been hired to provide vintage outfits for her friend Danielle for events during Derby Week. While searching in an attic for vintage hats, she meets the ghost of Maureen, the previous owner of the house and the fashions. She was murdered and attaches herself to Cookie hoping she can find her killer. Maureen, joins Cookie, Charlotte and Windsong on the trip to Kentucky. Of course, Cookie stumbles upon a dead body at the opening party, and the ghost of Ramon, one of the derby jockeys joins the group. Charlotte convinces Cookie to investigate his death for Ramon. While working for Danielle giving advice about vintage fashion, trying to solve the crime of Ramon's death she also juggles the two men interested in her that have shown up from Sugar Creek. Unfortunately, someone doesn't want her investigating the death. Threats and strange men come Cookie's way as she tries to discover who killed Ramon. Of course she is also working on Maureen's death with the help of Heather and her mother at home.

I enjoyed this addition to the series. There were plenty of twists and turns and with the various suspects in the murder, it made it hard to figure out who the culprit was. I did figure out the murderer before the reveal but it was still interesting to see who else was involved and why. All in all, a fun read and I look forward to the next book! The Haunted Vintage Mystery series is a fun, quirky cozy mystery series. Each book is filled with lighthearted humor, interesting plots, and likable characters. The characters are charming and fun. I do not usually read a lot of paranormal cozy mysteries, but this series seems different and is very enjoyable. I enjoy the humor, vintage clothing tips, the quirkiness of the characters and situations as well as the mystery. I recommend this book and series to any cozy mystery lover. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley.

Cookie Chanel has landed a plum gig - she’s attending the Kentucky Derby with her rich friend Danielle, and all she has to do is help Danielle choose outfits and hats. Because of this, she’s in the attic of a home recently purchased, and the owner said she could take whatever she wanted. Before she’s able to do so, however, she’s confronted by a ghost named Maureen who informs her that the hats belong to her and Cookie can’t have them. But after a confrontation with Cookie and her resident spirit Charlotte, Maureen agrees if Cookie will find out who murdered her.So Cookie, Charlotte, Maureen and Wind Song, Cookie’s cat/grandmother, have been booked into a very odd B&B with a nasty-tempered host, but other than that, she’s looking forward to spending time there. However, during her first event with Danielle, she finds the body of Ramon Gooden, a jockey. Now Cookie has three spirits hanging out with her, because Ramon expects her to help find his murderer too. But not knowing anyone in Kentucky, Cookie might find things more difficult - especially since the B&B owner is giving her such a hard time. Still, she manages to catch bits of conversation here and there, and is pleasantly surprised when Detective Dylan Valentine shows up; she knows he can get information from the police she’s not able to do. Unfortunately, Attorney Ken Harrison shows up also; both men are worried about her when they hear she’s found a body so hightailed it to Kentucky to see if she's alright.So now Cookie has three ghosts to contend with, two men wanting to occupy her time, and one unhappy B&B owner who's suspicious of her. At least she's able to delegate somewhat - she has her friend Heather and her mother back in Sugar Creek looking into Maureen's death, but trying to find a killer at the Derby isn't easy, especially when she doesn't know anything about the victim - and he won't say much at all. It's going to take all her sleuthing skills to find out the truth and keep herself from permanently joining her temporary trio of ghosts...I found this to be an entertaining read, and this time around she has two ghosts who need to find out who murdered them. I always enjoy reading Rose Pressey's books, and this one was no different, but I did wonder why the ghosts didn't help out more. As an example, she was trying to solve Ramon's murder, so why couldn't he go into the black truck and see if he recognized the driver? Ramon appeared to be hindering instead of being helpful to Cookie's investigation by not being truthful.Aside from that, it was a quick read and engaging enough to keep me reading it in one sitting. This is the fifth book in the Haunted Vintage Mysteries, a cute paranormal series that has a little romance in it, too. I look forward to reading the next in the series. Recommended.

If the Haunting Fits, Wear It by Rose Pressey is the fifth book in A Haunted Vintage Mystery series. Cookie Chanel owns It’s Vintage Y’all in Sugar Creek, Georgia. Cookie is getting ready to go to the Kentucky Derby with her client, Danielle Elston (she is styling her outfits). Cookie is at an estate sale looking for hats and discovers Maureen Weber in the attic (and she is very protective of her hats). She needs Cookie’s help and now Cookie has two ghosts tagging along—just what she does not need. Cookie packs up her car and heads to Kentucky along with Maureen, Charlotte, and her cat, Wind Song/Grandma Pearl (it’s complicated). Cookie is at an event at the Kentucky Derby Museum when she finds the body of jockey, Ramon Gooden. Ramon was murdered and he would like Cookie’s assistance in tracking down his killer (he is rather insistent). Cookie now has three ghosts tailing her and a B&B hostess who resembles a house mother. The killer is not happy with Cookie’s involvement and tries to take her out (more than once). Cookie will need to up her game if she is going to solve this crime and cross over Ramon. It does not help that Cookie’s two beau’s, Ken and Dylan arrive in town and provide pleasant distraction. Cookie’s mini-vacation in Kentucky is not quite what she had in mind. If the Haunting Fits, Wear It is not up to Rose Pressey’s usual standard. I found details repeated frequently throughout the book (I am not talking just once or twice either). The dialogue became confusing with three ghosts. It was hard to keep straight which ghost was talking. I did like the different setting in this book. We get a behind the scenes look at events surrounding the Kentucky Derby. There are numerous detailed dress, hat and accessory descriptions provided in If the Haunting Fits, Wear It. I thought the book was easy to read, had a nice pace, and entertaining characters. This may be the fifth book in the series, but it can easily be read alone. Cookie’s background and information from previous books is included in this story. My rating for If the Haunting Fits, Wear It is 3 out of 5 stars. Ramon’s murder was not complex and the killer is easily identified (sigh). Maureen’s situation was solved back home in Sugar Creek by Heather and Cookie’s mother (readers do not get a chance to figure this one out). The romance element is a love triangle (big sigh) that takes up a good portion of the book. I do not understand Cookie’s hesitancy to have a Ouija board around for Wind Song’s use (she never has one when the cat wishes to communicate with her). She states she is afraid of inviting in bad spirits, but the cat is only using it to give her a message by using the letters on the board (no summoning of spirits involved). I wish this paranormal mystery novel had more content (less wackiness). I found it lacking. Instead of being entertained by the book, I ended up being irritated. I felt If the Haunting Fits, Wear It needed editing and some rewriting. It did not need three ghosts, the cat that contains the spirit of Grandma Pearl, two suitors, a rude and controlling B&B owner, special outfits for every outing—you see what I mean. I sincerely hope that Ms. Pressey will be back on her game in the next A Haunted Vintage Mystery.
