- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Daisy is attempting to get her wings by doing jobs as an apprentice tooth fairy when she stumbles across Trevor the human anthropologist in South America. Both Daisy and Trevor are dealing with sincere desires to achieve their professional goals and in so doing much seems to go wrong while they fall in love. Charmed is another book in the Nether-Netherworld series by Erica Ridley and though fun and funny in places seemed rather silly and unbelievable in others. Nether-netherworld and its inhabitants were definitely imaginary but interesting.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I truly enjoyed this light read and the writing so much I was laughing through a lot of the scenes. The story painted a very detailed picture with enough in the plot that will have you wanting to finish it when you first start to read. There was a lot happening: excitement, emotions, nail biting. I will always remember Daisy and Trevor. I usually don’t read Paranormal, but I think I will start embracing a new genre. I enjoy that easy it was to follow and filled with fantasy. All of the characters were enjoyable, developed, fun, exciting, flawed, and some even sexy.Daisy is strong, cheerful, runs into trouble, and she is wingless tooth fairy. She doesn’t think she needs a relationship much less romance. I guess you will just need to grab up this book to figure out what Daisy will due to to gain her wings and how her magical powers work, lets just say turning things into pumpkins is not what should happen. This is an adult twist to fairy tales, and kinda like an all grown up Tinkerbell. If you love tooth fairies, then you will definitely love this book, go ahead and be Charmed, like I was.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. This is a light read that will have you laughing throughout. I loved the storyline and the characters were well developed. You are captured from the beginning and when its over you just want more. This author knows how to appeal to the audience and endear them to not only her characters but to her. I look forward to reading more from this author.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I have to say that this book is good first but it’s a little bit too long it feels like some events are just added to make a bigger story. Now the story is good the Daisy Trevor romance is funny a little bit of betrayal but forgivable with the right means. It’s an adventure between two people in love with there job, who wants to achieve something in the world that they are living in and make a difference. The way they met was funny there whole story was funny except of course with a trial for Daisy, I was very sorry for her because all she wanted to do was be accepted by her parents and society even with her differences.About her parents, now that is a story to tell, I hope that Erica Ridley will make us a book about those tow it seems very interesting to know about this love triangle.I will not put a five star to this one only three simply because it could’ve been a five star if the book was shorter.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A very cute book with a boy and a girl....
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I received a review copy of Charmed by Erica Ridley through Librarything.com Member Giveaways. This is a goofy comedy about a really good scientist who has aspirations to be a tooth fairy. Odd premise that wore out by the end of the book but was fun while it lasted. I really think this should be a teen book but the steamy (and overly long) sex scenes rule that out.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This is a very cute story mixing fairy tales and chick lit. There are a few side stories going on that muddle things a bit but overall it is a fun read. If you like fairy tales then you'll enjoy Charmed.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I received this book from LibraryThing in exchange for an honest review. Never in a million years did I ever believe I would be reading a book about a wannabe tooth fairy. I kind of thought I was over that stage in my life. I'm so glad I read this. I absolutely loved the back and forth with Daisy and Trevor. This story was lighthearted and funny and I was constantly rooting for things to work out for Daisy. I look forward to seeing what other stories this series will create.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5If there can be romance between humans and vampires, or humans and werewolves, then Tooth Fairies should have equal opportunity, right? This was a quick light read, sometimes highly unbelievable, but it is what it is. You want reality, look out the window. The characters were solid. You may not believe in tooth fairies, and there are many, in case you were in the dark on that point as I was before reading this book, but the world of Nether-Netherland and its inhabitants are brought to life quite well by the author. This particular apprentice fairy, Daisy le Fey may be a bit naive but she is likeable. The story progresses at a comfortable pace. The relationship dilemmas found don't exist exclusively between fairies of Nether-Netherland and anthropologists of Earth. I think that is why the story is relatable. They both want to achieve their goals, but have to figure out what is truly most important to them, and they have to compromise in order to attain those goals and still be together. I don't usually read paranormal romance, but I enjoyed the book.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5What do you do if your first assignment as an assistant tooth fairy is under the pillow of a full grown man in a tent in the middle of Costa Rica? If you're Daisy Le Fey, you charge in looking for "the tooth" anyway. That's what Professor Trevor Masterson discovers as he is woken in the middle of the night while away on an archeological dig by a scantily clad woman with fake wings. He can't decide if she's beautiful or crazy, or both. When she won't stop pestering him the next day, he decides the former and gives her a rock, claiming the tooth is inside. When Daisy turns in the rock to her department and is promptly arrested for contempt of her job, she knows she never should have trusted a human. It's hard enough living up to her parents, a successful godmother and full blown angel, without being good at magic, but now she's in trouble with the authorities too. It doesn't help that the human who caused her problems is very attractive. Humans and magical beings don't mix. It's against the rules in Nether Netherland, and Daisy can't afford to break the rules anymore. But she needs that tooth to earn her wings and finally gain the respect of her magical peers.Ms. Ridley takes us on a light and sparkly whirlwind. The story is full of romance, sex, and lots of fairy dust. I especially appreciated the world building and descriptions of how magic works. The prose is a bit cliche and fluffy, but it makes it an easy read, great for the beach or airplane. The author could have cut the word count down quite a bit, but in the end it was a fun read. The main character is also a plus, Daisy is not your average helpless romantic heroine. She's strong-willed, determined, and definitely not waiting for some man to sweep her off her feet. Refreshing change from the usual fluttery-my-life-is-not-complete-without-a-man norm.I wouldn't recommend this book to readers outside the genre, because it doesn't cross genre lines. But for those of you who love fairytale romances like Mercedes Lackey, this is definitely worth a try, especially if you like strong female leads. Looking forward to the next installment of the Nether Netherland series!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5After finishing a series of darker reads, a romantic comedy was just what I needed to relax and recharge my reviewing batteries: this book did not fail to disappoint. With clever world building of the bureaucratic nightmare that is Nether Netherland, incorporating all sorts of paranormal creatures, rules, standard operating procedures and the peculiar prejudices that Daisy faced daily in her little office, her character’s desperation and determination to possess the real wings provided a solid backstory to her rather single-minded behavior. Much to the dismay of Trevor, who finds Daisy wholly attractive, if not more than a tiny bit nuts, and who has a similar battle awaiting him upon his return to the hallowed halls of the University.
Daisy was instantly adorable and empathetic, her frantic scrambles and solid determination to get Angus’ tooth and move up one more step on her corporate ladder. Trevor had instant appeal as well, his patience and humor in dealing with his students, and his frustration with the slow progress of his career and his frantic need to maintain his position and jockey for a tenured one were understandable. When the two meet, and the sparks and magic fly – the two must learn to cooperate, compromise and decide what really is needed versus what they think they must have.
The dialog and story line are liberally interspersed with laugh out loud moments of mayhem and miscommunication, clever conversations and an often baffled and bewildered Trevor trying to rationalize his scientific mind to allow for the possibility of magic not only existing, but being part of the life of the one he loves. And he does love Daisy, magically impaired, brilliant and sweet, with best friend Maeve: a sassy, snarky winged horse.
Yes, the book has it silly moments: pure escapist fantasy and it does that Oh So Well. Quirky and engaging characters that grow individually and together as the story progresses, this was a light, fun and highly entertaining read. A great introduction to the multi-faceted world of Nether-Netherland and the all too frequent incursions into the realm that we believe only humans inhabit.
I received an eBook from the author for purpose of honest review as part of the Indie Authors Rock at I am, Indeed. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
