This was a totally great book. I loved that neither the H nor the H dragged out his or her agreement to marry due to the “problem” each has. I like that they married because they liked each other and then love developed. It was attraction at first sight but not love at first sight, which was much better. I loved the heroine and the hero to. They were sort of anti Hs. I loved the involvement of the Wyndhams as a family as always. I loved that the bad guy was believably obnoxious and not a psycho villain out of all normal proportions. The kids were not overdone either. Really really enjoyed this one and am doing the whole series. Eva next!! Hope it is as good or even close.

Lady Louisa is finally getting her man, not that she was looking though. All the sisters seem to be happy with what they have at the moment. Let' start.

There are secrets, but to be honest, the secrets in this series are all pretty lame. Though I did like her secret, that made sense with her choices. We learn it almost at once too. Joseph's secret, oh that was the lame one, I did not know why he even bothered with that one. But then this is not about secrets. For me these books are about romance.

Louisa needs a knight in shining armor and her widowed neighbor Sir Joseph comes to the rescue. They are already acquainted, but here they learn to know each other better, and fall in love.

The story worked (even if his secret was lame but he is a man so they are all silly ;). The love grows and I could see it. Sure it all takes place during a short period of time but still it works. And as always the book is light and so easy to read that the pages just fly by. You have to read on.

    A nice historical romance(less)

I’m actually going to round up to 4 stars on this one. The plot has some holes and points that stretch believability beyond my typical comfort level, which often bothers me, but I enjoyed the characters together so I decided to just take the story as if it were a play. When everything aligns conveniently at the end of a play I don’t scoff and think ‘likely story!’ lol, I just take it for what it is. And for what this is, I enjoyed it.

I have enjoyed all of Grace Burrowes' Windham series, and Lady Louisa's story is my favorite. She is super intelligent and awkward, and her knight is just as awkward, and can't understand why everyone thinks Louisa should dumb herself down to find a husband. It is a regency novel for nerds! And Burrowes' characters are witty and clever, and the sexy parts are super sexy, and it is all much less misogynistic than so many other regency novels--including the Bridgerton series--that proport to be historically accurate. I wish Netflix would have made this series into a TV show instead!

Marriage before consummation? How (pun intended) novel... especially for the Windham clan. The mystery plot of this story was far more intriguing than the romance, and I wanted all that resolved, so I kept reading even when I should have stopped.

Very fun book. Both Louisa and Joseph are something of social misfits. Louisa is very smart and honest to the point of bluntness. She has never learned the art of flirtation and as a result has found no match after eight years. She is ready to give up the search and retire to the country. Joseph returned from the war with a limp and a knighthood. He is very happy staying mostly in the country, raising pigs and taking care of his daughters. He's due to inherit a title and isn't looking forward to it at all.During a local hunt, Louisa rescues Joseph from pursuit by several marriage minded ladies. They find that they have a much easier time talking to each other than to other people and a friendship is born. During a ball both are attending they spend some more time together, with Louisa giving in to her desire to kiss Joseph. The result is a surprise to both, Louisa never having experienced anything like it and Joseph liking it far too much for his comfort. Later that evening Joseph saves Louisa from a drunken man who seeks to compromise her.In order to save her reputation, Joseph proposes marriage, first to another man, then to himself. He still feels she's far above him, but he's come to care for her too much to let her suffer. Louisa's reaction is typical of her personality. While both look forward to their marriage, each of them has a secret that they fear could wreck their future. Those fears become stronger as both receive letters threatening exposure unless demands are met. But their growing feelings for each other create a need to confess all in order to preserve their marriage. In the end both secrets, the blackmailer, and the rest of the family come together in an outstanding conclusion.I loved the way that both Louisa and Joseph were so perfect for each other. Neither one is particularly fond of society shindigs, preferring to pursue their own interests. Joseph has quite the poet's soul, often quoting it to Louisa. Meanwhile, Louisa had a marvelous way of sensing his needs, especially when his leg was bothering him. There were a couple of great leg massage scenes where she really surprised him. One of the things I loved most about both of them was their honesty with each other. Except when dealing with their individual secrets, neither had trouble being straightforward with their thoughts.I loved seeing Joseph with his daughters at the beginning. It was obvious he loved them, but that he was also unsure of how to deal with them. Louisa's arrival at his home was great. I loved the way that she saw what was happening and fixed it. That first conversation with him about the girls was pretty funny. The problem of Louisa's secret was pretty well dealt with. I felt bad for her that the problem was in part caused by her brothers' actions, and loved that they were all trying to help fix it. Louisa was the only one who knew about the notes she was getting and she was trying to figure out how to deal with them. I liked the fact that giving in wasn't going to be an option.Joseph's secret was pretty interesting. The way it was spoken of at first was a bit disturbing, as I couldn't see a man as honorable as he is acting that way. I began to suspect the truth before the full story was told, and found it to fit perfectly with Joseph's character. He too was getting threatening notes from the same person and was trying to figure out a way to discover who it was. I really liked the fact that neither intended to keep their secrets for long. The identity of the blackmailer had a slight twist to it that I didn't see coming. As usual, the secondary characters add a great deal to the story. I loved seeing her oldest brother basically get scolded by Joseph for the way that they had treated her when they were younger. The interactions of all the siblings are fun to see. I especially love seeing how their marriages are working out, having earlier read their books. None of them can compare to the Duke and Duchess. I love how their marriage is such an example to the others. The Duke's antics when it comes to taking care of his family can be pretty funny. I really loved the scene at the end with them and the Prince's envoy.

Match a poetry reciting, wounded soldier, pig farming hero (Joseph) with a heroine (Louisa) who is a mathematical savant and brilliant erotic poetess, and you get One Scrumptious Couple!

I love a book that makes me laugh.
this one is funny and sweet and totally not overdone. it didn't make me roll my eyes or skip pages.
I loved that he didn't want a title and that she was eccentric.
I loved the pig, and the bacon titles.
I loved the poems tucked throughout the story, and that the whole poems were included in the note.

An enticing quick readWritten with a lively panache and flair that reveals the wit and style of its author, this novel is a treat to read.I just loved the characters of Louisa and Joseph. They are a cut above the normal leading lord and lady.Louisa is brimming with an intelligent sensitivity that’s accompanied by a wonderful sense of humor. Her often ungainly ways hide an astute mind and a heart ready for love.Louisa however is a woman with secrets. When we meet her Louisa is considering life as a spinster or failing that, settling for a husband who would want her for considerable dowry, convinced as she is about her unloveliness. Will it be Lionel of the patchouli oil or the worm Grattlingly?Joseph, the reluctant war hero is battle scarred and weary. He is a man full of love and acceptance, a man who can quote poetry and appreciate the unusual. Joseph however is a man with secrets. The story revolves around the peculiar courtship of these two and is a fun read. Both have big hearts. Both yearn for love. Both enjoy poetry. Both have their secrets. Are their hearts big enough to handle each other's secrets with respect and integrity and forgiveness?A joy filled and ultimately tender love story.A NetGalley ARC

It’s no secret to any of you how much I love reading Grace Burrows’ novels. She infuses her love stories with so much heart that once I’m done with the story, I’m already missing the characters. It’s no different with this story. Last Christmas we saw Lady Sophie get her Christmas wish, and this Christmas Lady Louisa gets her Knight.Sir Joseph Carrington is a retired soldier, a farmer and quotes poetry. He is one of the best Beta heroes around! I loved his mild manner and thoughtfulness. As much as he liked and was attractive to Louisa, he would have never presumed that she would like him back, and especially because of the difference in their stations. As a favor to her brothers, he takes their place as her protector and that’s where all the trouble starts.I don’t know about you, but I love when the story ‘breathes’…Like the bottle of a very old wine…you open it, let it breathe…inhale it, and just the aroma gets you intoxicated. That’s exactly how I felt reading this romance. This is a tender, mature love story of two smart, witty and very normal people and that in itself was so refreshing. The secondary characters were interesting as well, but having their Graces and their children around was such a treat. There’s a bit of comedy and plenty of romance as our hero quotes his poetry, so get that cup of hot chocolate and spend a day with Lady Louisa and her Knight!

Lady Louisa Windham has a secret that is about to be known. Sir Joseph Carrington being the gentleman, offers to help her. He thinks Lady Louisa is the perfect Lady for him and his daughters - who are in desperate need of a mother. Sir Joseph has a secret of his own, he just hopes the reveal will not scare Louisa away.Terrific Christmas read! I loved Louisa and Joseph's story. Each of Ms. Burrowes books hold secrets to be revealed. The suspense and anticipation always has me on the edge of my seat. Lady Louisa's Christmas Knight is romantic, fun and heartwarming. A great way to spend the holiday. While set in different times - Grace Burrowes novels are an excellent cure to my Downton Abbey withdrawals. The Windham daughter's are just a charming as their brothers, this book is a must read.

Sir Joseph Carrington likes being just a knight, able to find solace in his prize pig. But he does need a mother for his two young daughters. Lady Louisa is the overly intelligent daughter of a duke, about to give up on finding a husband. Both of them are hiding secrets. Their stations in life are too different for them to make a good match, no matter how intriguing they find each other. And then there are those secrets.Another heartwarming romance from Burrowes.
