About this audiobook

Fenella Thane is a desperate woman. Her absentee husband of eight years has served her with divorce papers and she looks likely to lose her beloved home and be forced into a convent.

There is just one slim chance to avoid this fate, one person of prominence at court who she knows has the ear of the King. Oswald Vawdrey, the man who cruelly jilted her when she was a starry-eyed fifteen year old with a head full of romantic dreams.

Fen swallows her pride and rides to the King's court at Aphrany to beg for Lord Vawdrey's intercession. But Lord Vawdrey is not the charming boy she remembers, and he has no interest in halting her divorce. Instead, he has quite different plans for his former intended bride.

Fenella is about to discover there is more to Oswald Vawdrey than meets the eye. And she may not be quite so forsaken as she once thought . . .

Contains mature themes.

First book 4 starts. This one a total chore. Fen is the most boring oblivious character to walk these pages. He's ok but his love makes no sense for her. He's just lonely? Horny? The palace minutiae is boring because it is told largely through her eyes. He is a withholding and manipulative man. Next

Such a great series and Oswald didn’t disappoint. it is always lovely to see all the brothers United and further giving context and warmth to their past. So eye opening!

Fenella is served with divorce papers, and her only hope to save her home is her ex-fiance, Oswald Vawdrey. She doesn't think he's inclined to help her, but she's surprised. Not only does he have different intentions, Fen discovers that the divorce doesn't matter all that much.I admit I was a little confused at first. These books take place in a medieval fantasy world, and some of the marriage paperwork involved confused me, but ultimately I very much enjoyed the book. Fen and Oswald are a perfect couple. Oswald is the ultimate spymaster, full of secrets, so he doesn't always allow his feelings to show. Fen struggles, wanting to prove herself to both Oswald and her ex-husband. It's another great book from Ms. Coldbreath.

There were a couple not as great parts, but on the whole I was pleased.
