About this audiobook

How can you lie when you can't remember the truth?

When 17-year-old Hunter Gifford wakes up in the hospital on the night of homecoming, he’s shocked to learn he and his girlfriend, Chloe Summers, have been in a terrible car accident. Hunter has no memory of the crash, and his shock
turns to horror when he is told Chloe’s blood has been found in the car, but she has disappeared.

Back at school, his fellow students taunt him, and his former best friend starts making a true-crime documentary about the case—one that points the finger directly at Hunter. And just when things can’t get any worse, Chloe’s mother
stands in front of the entire town at a candlelight vigil and accuses Hunter of murder.

Under mounting pressure from the police, Hunter takes matters into his own hands by questioning anyone who might know the truth and posting videos to prove his innocence. When Hunter learns he and Chloe were seen arguing loudly
outside the dance, he faces a sickening possibility: Was he angry enough to kill the person he loved?

Interesting and fast-paced, but ultimately kind of dark and depressing. Some loose ends as well. Did enjoy the character interactions in the main family unit. Narration good except for weird intonation at the end of any question.

Pretty good book. I figured it out pretty early on, but I definitely second guessed myself for a bit. Glad I stumbled upon this book.

Another excellent book by David Bell. His first attempt at a YA book does not disappoint the adult reader. This is a book to devour if you like mystery/thrillers.

When 17=year-old Hunter wakes up in hospital on the night of prom, he can’t remember anything of the evening. He learns he had been in a car accident and had somehow made his way to the hospital alone. But he hadn’t been alone in the car. His girlfriend had been in the car with him but now she’s missing. Has she wandered away hurt and confused or is it something much much worse and was Hunter involved in her disappearance? She’s Gone by David Bell is one heck of a page-turner. It gripped me from the first page and it kept me guessing right to the end. I couldn’t put it down until I found out what happened. It’s aimed a YA audience but it definitely has appeal for older readers. A definite high recommendation from me.. Thanks to Netgalley and Sourcebooks for the opportunity to read ths book in exchange for an honest review.
