About this audiobook
From one of the most gifted and beloved storytellers of her time comes a riveting new novel of suspense where one woman’s picture-perfect island sanctuary reveals itself to be filled with dangers …
At twenty-nine, Alison Marshall is ready to find a place to call home. With no family and no ties, she’s drifted from one small Florida town to another since high school, working odd jobs, saving hard, and building a nest egg. Once she finds the
right place to settle down, she’ll know. And when she reaches beautiful Palmetto Island, she thinks she may have found it.
The small, close-knit island community seems to have everything Alison needs. On a hunch, she contacts the island’s only realtor, and learns that an old beach house is on the market. Miraculously, it’s in her budget, and Alison takes it as another
sign that she’s in the right place.
At first, home is everything she hoped it would be. But as days turn into weeks, she uncovers a dark side to this supposedly peaceful haven. The locals have a secret, and once Alison discovers what it is, she faces a stark choice. She can stay
and join them—or escape. But leaving brings its own risks, and Alison is starting to wonder if coming to Palmetto Island is the last mistake she’ll ever make …

Author
Fern Michaels
New York Times bestselling author Fern Michaels has a passion for romance, often with a dash of suspense and drama. It stems from her other joys in life—her family, animals, and historic home. She is usually found in South Carolina, where she is either tapping out stories on her computer, rescuing or supporting animal organizations, or dabbling in some kind of historical restoration.

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5This is the WORST narrator I’ve ever listened to! I couldn’t finish the book because she was so bad. It’s too bad because the book might be good otherwise, one day I’ll finish reading it and find out.
Update - I got the book and read it and I lowered my rating from 2 to 1 star- this is the worst book I think I have ever read! Do NOT waste your time! I have never read a fern Michaels book before but will say if this is any indication with her other books are like then I never want to read another one!! - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I wish this was a series, it was good, but I can see a whole series of the people of this island.
So much happened in this short story. Great characters, a great story, and a fantastic narrator. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Review of Fear thy Neighbor by Fern Michaels. This story holds your attention from beginning to end. Allison is raised in one Foster Care home after another. Those caring for her only care about the money. At the last one the sin attempts to rape her so she flees. She thought she killed the son but he shows up searching bus she is leaving on. A lady watches out for her. At one stop the lady gets her to hospital to get her broken arm fixed. The son shows up and attempts again. He didn't die. Allison could not believe there were kind people in the world. She keeps moving until she finds a nice quiet place on beach. She stays in a hotel and becomes very sick. Strange things happen. She makes friends. She buys a yellow cottage on beach. When she starts to clean yard strange event happens. Fish guts found put in her refrigerator when she is gone. An investigative reporter shows up. She begins to trust him. A cult, FBI, reporter, daughter of friend goes missing, danger, romance, secrets come out and more. Highly recommend.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I started this yesterday and didn't something I haven't done in ages...I stayed up until morning to finish it. I then found that I was actually disappointed that it had ended...that there wasn't any more story. Just when Alison starts to make friends and is happy with her decision and her new home.... strange things begin to happen. This is where I knew I COULD NOT stop reading! She finds a bone. ...you can use your imagination to guess what kind...as she's clearing up overgrowth on her property. She then learns this is not the first time that bones came from here. Then she hears the rumors of missing children and cult activity, or is it just rumors? Slowly she knows that her first thoughts on the discoveries were right. Still, she wants to spend time in her nice cottage on the beach. She has now set herself on a course that may change her life forever. The characters are both likable and questionable. The plot is breathtaking and events are sometimes horrific, but be assured the book will hold onto you until the end and afterwards.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I’ve read most of the Fern Michaels books as she’s been a favorite author for many years. But this is not an enjoyable story as far as I’m concerned. The story is hard to follow with details that make little sense in some places. Fern Michaels has much better books in her collection.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I'm still trying to figure out how I feel about this story. I received this for free and I voluntarily chose to review it. I've given it a 4* rating. It starts out almost a little creepy but gathers speed when things start happening in this new town she stops in. There is a lot of mystery and a bit of action. You just want to know what is going on. A lot of questions are answered in the end.
