About this audiobook
At the end of the London season, Harriet Finch reluctantly travels to her wealthy grandfather’s country house. His rigid rules for whom she should marry spark her rebellious spirit. Yearning for a way to reclaim her freedom, Harriet takes long
walks and plots her escape. A handsome rogue from the Travelers camp nearby catches her eye. He may be just the alternative she’s looking for.
Rejected by his snobbish, cruelly critical great-grandmother for his American upbringing, Jonathan “Jack” Frederick Merrill, the new Earl of Ferrington, joins a wandering group of Travelers, where everyone is welcome. He will take a look at
this estate that has come to him and then, most likely, go back to Boston. But Ferrington Hall has an intriguing, flirtatious neighbor who accepts him as he is.
Soon, Harriet is all he can think about. Is their love strong enough to withstand the secret he’s been keeping? Time is running out, and a missing earl can’t hide forever …

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Jane Ashford is fast becoming one of my favorite authors, and of course the narration by Rosalyn Landor was brilliant as always. This story is just too cute. The banter between Jack and Harriet is delicious. I loved the side characters as well.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Jack has succeeded unexpectedly to an earldom and has travelled from Boston, where he was brought up, to England to meet his family. His termagant great-grandmother treats him with such disdain that he flees, incognito, and joins up with a band of travellers on his way to check out his estate. At the estate, where he is staying with the travellers, still incognito, he meets Harriet Finch, heiress to the over-bearing businessman next door. They fall in love, but tedious communication problems ensue, and push them apart.A pleasant, innocuous, unmemorable read.
