About this audiobook

This cold case has suddenly warmed up. She only hopes they won't get burned.

Criminal psychologist Erin Larson’s dreams of a successful career come to a screeching halt when she nearly loses her life in a boating accident and then learns that her mother tried to commit suicide. She leaves her job to care for her
mother in Montana. At least there Erin is able to produce her podcast, which focuses on solving missing persons cold cases.

Nathan Campbell’s father was investigating such a case when he was shot, and now Nathan needs to enlist Erin’s help to solve the case. She’s certainly good at what she does. The only problem? She’s his ex.

As the two dig deeper, it becomes clear that they, too, are being targeted—and the answers to their questions are buried deep within the past Erin struggles to explain and longs to forget.

I thought book 1 was good but this book was great!

This book was definitely worth staying up late to finish. Once again, Elizabeth Goddard delivers on a suspenseful crime novel with unexpected twists and turns, non stop action, and just enough romance to make you 'awwww'. Well developed characters with mysterious and surprising back stories that slowly get unravelled throughout the pages. It is just the right balance of predictable and totally surprising details. I always enjoy the mystery and crime to surprise me while the romance plays out as expected (and slightly predictable). I can't wait for the next one in this Rocky Mountain Courage series! I didn't realize it would tie in to the Uncommon Justice thread with some characters, and I am appreciating that too!

A criminal psychologist, a local detective, missing children, and a cold case investigation.... each time I read a book by Elizabeth Goddard, I think it's her best, but I believe that Deadly Target is TRULY her best yet! This story begins with an easy, soothing kayak ride down the Puget Sound but don't be fooled---this is the last easy, soothing scene you will encounter. Goddard transports readers into an electrifying adventure filled with danger, suspense, and numerous questions needing to be answered. Surprises, multiple twists-and-turns, and family secrets make this a book that I couldn't put down, and there's an unexpected development that I didn't see coming. There are also great characters, and I was especially drawn to Erin Larson and Nathan Campbell, two people who carry deep wounds from their youth and also share a painful romantic break-up. Will they become more than just two professionals caught up in a deadly cold case investigation?Deadly Target is primarily set in Montana and even though it's the second book in the Rocky Mountain Courage series, it can easily be read as a standalone. Are you in the mood for a clean romance? Look no further. Searching for a thrilling suspense novel with a strong faith element? This is the book for you! I highly recommend Deadly Target and I look forward to the next book in this series!I received a copy of this book from the author and publisher. There was absolutely no obligation for a positive review. These are my own thoughts.

Elizabeth Goddard continues her Rocky Mountain Courage series with Book 2 - Deadly Target. The fast-paced thrills keep coming from a boating accident to dark secrets to a dam breaking. The scenes are paced just right through the pages. With each new piece of information comes another piece of the puzzle but will keep you guessing and wanting to cruise to the next chapter. Goddard does a beautiful job with descriptive scenes, you will feel as though you are right at the center of the action. Although this is the second book in the series, it can certainly be read as a stand alone. Don't miss this fast-paced romantic suspense!

Deadly Target is the second in the Rocky Mountain Courage series by Elizabeth Goddard. After reading the first in the series, I was looking forward to getting and reading this one. However – I hate to say - I was very disappointed in this book. There were just too many coincidences for me to believe in what was happening. I have read most of Ms. Goddard’s novels – and really like them, but this one just didn’t do it for me. I look forward to her next one – hoping it is much more believable than this one. I got the book through the LibraryThing Early Reviewers program in exchange for an honest review.

Erin and Nathan have to team up to help solve a case. Erin has left her past behind to care for her mother and turns to helping others with her podcast. Nathan find himself turning to her for help with a case that his father was unable to finish closing. As they continue working together, they soon find themselves in deeper than they expected. A great suspenseful read.I received a copy to read, the review is mine.

Elizabeth Goddard once again combines intricately crafted plot, fast-paced action, nail-biting suspense with lovable characters to create a story that will take you on a wild journey to a surprising and totally unexpected ending. Though it is second book in the series, it can be read as a stand-alone. Erin and Nathan are enjoyable characters but the book is definitely plot-driven. Cold cases, shadowy pasts, and unknown threats loom over Erin and Nathan as they dodge disasters and attempt to untangle the series of events, injuries, and deaths. If you enjoy romantic suspense, this book will hit the spot. I received the book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are solely my own.

"Deadly Target", Book Two in author Elizabeth Goddard's "Rocky Mountain Courage Series", is an action-packed thrill ride from beginning to end. Fans of inspirational romantic suspense will not be able to put this book down until they have turned the final page. Puget Sound, WA is usually a place of peaceful refuge for criminal psychologist Erin Larson. The rhythm of the paddle strokes propelling her kayak across the blue water lulls her into a sense of contentment. However, that peace comes to screaming halt on one such outing when she and her friend Carissa barely escape with their lives when their kayaks are overrun by a speeding power boat. Just moments after surviving this terrifying attack, Erin is stunned to receive a call from her former love Nathan Campbell advising that her mother has been hospitalized after a suicide attempt. Heading back to Montana to care for her mom means bringing her current career to a halt and coming face-to-face with the man she left behind five years ago. She had hurt Nathan terribly when she'd left, but, for reasons of her own, she just couldn't stay. Nathan Campbell had followed his father into a law enforcement career, working for the local sheriff's department as a search ans rescue technical climber and an evidence dive team member. His father had left Nathan and his mother over twenty years ago and become a detective in Boston. Nathan had rarely seen his father, and he still carried the hurt from his betrayal. Now, his father was suddenly back in Montana for a visit and to speak with Nathan on an important matter. While his father is telling Nathan about a cold case that he has been working on, someone shoots and grievously wounds his father, who had told Nathan to keep their talk a secret and to trust no one. As his father clings to life in the ICU, Nathan begins his own investigation into the shooting as well as the cold case itself. He turns to Erin for help. Erin has kept her podcast, Missing Children , going since returning to Montana, and she has been trying to determine the reason behind her mother's suicide attempt. She and Nathan begin to work together to fit all the pieces of the puzzle together, and soon they find themselves caught in the target sights of a deadly evil force. Can they find the truth and bring this deadly reign of terror to an end? Is there hope for a new beginning for Erin and Nathan with a chance for a bright and happy future together? "Deadly Target" will keep readers on the edge of there seats until all is resolved, and those same readers will also greatly enjoy "Present Danger", Book One in the series. This series has been so good; jam packed with action and suspense! I loved Erin and Nathan. They have such a fierce love for family and their passion for helping family and friends is incredible. I liked that they had a past and then reconnected to form a new relationship years later; it made their relationship more realistic and believable, I think. The suspense in this book is spot on: it starts with a bang and has tons of surprising twists and turns! I had a really hard time putting the book down. I do not think you have to read the first book to understand this one, but there are a few characters that appear in both stories, which is fun to read. I really enjoyed this novel and cannot wait for book three. I definitely recommend this series to all lovers of contemporary suspense!I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. Opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

This is exciting and suspenseful. I could not put this book down. Erin and Nathan were one of my favorite all time couples. Erin had things she needed to work out before she could get close to anyone. She had to go back home to help her mom and she ends up helping Nathan solve a cold case that his father was working on. This shows how people can work together to solve old problems. I love these two together and this whole story had me wondering what was going to happen. I received a copy of this book from Revell and the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

Evil wouldn’t let her forget that it existed, even for a few hours. An innocent kayaking afternoon ends in an unexpected swim in Puget Sound. Obviously an accident - perhaps someone ill or inebriated. A botched suicide that wasn’t really a suicide? Attempted murder, hired assassins, missing persons, a cold case podcast, nightmares, clandestine meetings and more. This book is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat! The author takes us deep into the world of cold cases, with plot lines that make you start to wonder if they might all be tied together somehow. For Erin, as a criminal psychologist, all the stability she’d fought for and gained was crumbling away. Could the detectives finally get to the bottom of all these riddles or were more people destined to die? Was there a silver lining in all this chaos? An ARC was received through Revell, Baker Publishing Group and NetGalley. These impressions and comments are my own and were in no way solicited.

Elizabeth Goddard has done it again...another wow-I-did-not-see-that-coming kind of book. Having read the first book in the Rocky Mountain Courage series, I knew what to expect, and was not disappointed. The story starts out with an intentional boating collision and the edge-of-the-seat action continues until the end of the story. The characters are colorful and riveting, as well as realistic and either likable, relatable, or despicable. It was nice to catch up with a few of the characters from the first book in the series, Present Danger. Erin and Nathan had been involved in circumstances previously, and things did not end well. I enjoyed watching their relationship begin again and evolve into more than colleagues solving a couple of cold cases that might be related. I like how the author revealed things layer by layer, keeping me wondering how scenarios were ever going to work out. And when the truth was finally revealed it was quite surprising. Readers who love exciting, heart-stopping mysteries will not want to miss Deadly Target. It kept me eagerly reading until the very last page. I am sure hoping there is another book to come in the series.I won an advanced reading copy of the book through LibraryThing and was not required to write a review. The opinions are my own.

Deadly Target by Elizabeth Goddard is book two in the Rocky Mountain Courage series. This is a good stand alone story that does reference some of the characters from the previous story. Erin has come home to care for her mother who attempted suicide and gets pulled into an investigation of who attempted to kill Nathan’s father. This is a very well written Christian Romantic Suspense story that is full of action and suspense that I found it hard to put down. The story has many twist and turns that keeps the story just building to the very end. I enjoyed reading how Erin and Nathan deal with their past relationship while they work together to find out who is after his father and why.I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author and publisher as part of the launch team. This is my honest review.

This book was very good and I read it in one night! Elizabeth Goddard keeps getting better and better! The plot line is fast and exciting, the characters are likable, and the descriptions throughout the book are top notch. There are characters from book one in this story. But it is not necessary to read it first; Deadly Target can be a stand alone novel. The plot begins with a typical day out on the ocean in a kayak. Erin Larson is spending some time with a friend, when a boat tries to run them over! Only an hour or two later, Erin receives a call that her mother in Montana has tried to commit suicide. This begins Erin's journey to finding out why someone seems to be targeting her. She teams up with an old flame, Nathan and together they must solve the problem before more people get hurt. I don't want to give away too much of the plot, but I will say it involves kidnapping, revenge, organized crime, and changing identities. If you enjoy other Christian Fiction authors like Lynette Eason or Terri Blackstock, then you will love Deadly Target.

This is a well-written Christian suspense novel. There is danger at every turn for the two main characters and they need to find out who is behind it before they both end up dead.Erin is a forensic psychologist in Washington State and has a successful podcast about cold cases. When she finds out that her mother tried to commit suicide, she takes a leave from her job and hurries back home to Montana to take care of her mother. One of the first people she sees is her ex-boyfriend Nathan. Even though she broke up their relationship, they still have a lot of strong feelings for each other. As soon as she gets back, dangerous things start happening to them - his father is shot, a dam breaks and they almost drown and they both get shot at several times. She soon begins to wonder if the accident that occurred while she was kayaking in Washington was connected to the current danger. Instead of going into hiding, Erin and Nathan start investigating and end up in even more danger. Even though they are in danger, their feelings for each other continue to get stronger. Will they get their happily ever after ending? This novel has a bit of everything - romance, mystery and suspense and kept me guessing until the end. Several times I thought that I knew how it would end only to find out in a few pages how wrong I was.NOTE: This book is the second book in the Rocky Mountain Courage series but I read it as a standalone with no confusion but I plan to read the first book in the series very soon. Thanks to the publisher for a copy of this book to read and review. All opinions are my own.

Wow. This is the second book in Ms. Goddard's "Rocky Mountain Courage" series and it just keeps getting better. The pace is breathless, and there are many twist and turns and seemingly unconnected threads that meet in a stunning climax. I read a lot of romantic suspense novels and usually understand the plot early on, but I didn't see the twists in this one until the very end.And we have Nathan and Erin, who are grounded and likeable and very easy to root for. They are searching for a second chance under wildly trying circumstances. They are nicely drawn, and it was wise of the author to make them a former couple who had come apart, because with all that was going on, there would not have been any chance to build a relationship from scratch.I will anxiously await the third book of this trilogy.I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an unbiased review.

Erin Larson returns to her hometown in Montana after narrowing escaping a kayaking accident because her mother has attempted suicide. There she meets and agrees to help her ex-boyfriend Nathan. Not knowing who to trust, Nathan turns to Erin for help as he investigates a shooting while he and his father were fishing. It seems to relate to a cold case his father was investigating. Both of them narrowly escape a dam break, a shooting incident, and several other attempts on their lives. Erin and Nathan must also consider whether their past feelings for each other should be pursued. A number of mob-related crimes and the characters' pasts are nicely tied together in this page-turner.

This is a good story. The two story lines are tied up at the end and are related. It has a little too much angst for me... will he or won't he, should she or not. The story seemed to drag at these times. The mystery is good, didn't figure it out until the end.
