About this audiobook
The murder of a prostitute named Ada McKinley in a bedroom on decrepit Pentecost Alley should occasion no stir in Victoria’s great metropolis, but under
the victim’s body, the police find a Hellfire Club badge inscribed with the name “Finlay Fitzjames”—a name that instantly draws Superintendent Thomas Pitt into
the case. Finlay’s father—immensely wealthy, powerful, and dangerous—refuses to consider the possibility that his son has been in Ada McKinley’s bed. The
implication is clear: Pitt is to arrest someone other than Finlay Fitzjames for Ada’s demise. But Thomas Pitt is not a man to be intimidated, and with the help of his
quick-witted wife, Charlotte, he stubbornly pursues his investigation—one that twists and turns like London’s own ancient streets.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Decent murder mystery with Thomas Pitt as the lead investigator. The case involves the murder of three prostitutes, a suspect from a wealthy London family and members of a secret society. Pitt is assisted by his wife Charlotte and her sister Emily.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Another good mystery from the writings of Anne Perry. A Charlotte and Thomas Pitt novel set in Victorian England. Definitely a good read.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Audio read by David McCallum. Thomas Pitt is called in to investigate the murder of young prostitute. The case has similiarities to Jack the Ripper murders. The chief suspect is a wealthy, well connected young man whose sister is a friend of Charlotte's sister, Emily. Tthe wrong man is sentenced and another young girl is murdered. There's lots of secrets and coverups but in the end the killer is just who you think it is.
