Of all the gut-wrenchingly awful and heartbreaking words written about killer baby nurse Lucy Letby over the past two weeks, there are few more haunting than the victim impact statement of a bereaved mum and dad.

And it was this. That after murdering their son, Letby bathed his broken body and dressed him in a woollen gown she had chosen. Touched by her supposed kindness and helpless with grief, the parents had their precious baby buried in that gown. Letby’s evil followed that poor little mite to his grave.
