About this audiobook

Trailblazing Constance's hard-won job as deputy sheriff is on the line in Miss Kopp Just Won't Quit, the fourth installment of Amy Stewart's Kopp Sisters series. After a year on the job, New Jersey's first female deputy sheriff has collared criminals, demanded justice for wronged women, and gained notoriety nationwide for her exploits. But on one stormy night, everything falls apart. While transporting a woman to an insane asylum, Deputy Kopp discovers something deeply troubling about her story. Before she can investigate, another inmate bound for the asylum breaks free and tries to escape. In both cases, Constance runs instinctively toward justice. But the fall of 1916 is a high-stakes election year, and any move she makes could jeopardize Sheriff Heath's future-and her own. Although Constance is not on the ballot, her controversial career makes her the target of political attacks. With wit and verve, book-club favorite Amy Stewart brilliantly conjures the life and times of the real Constance Kopp to give us this "unforgettable, not-to-be messed-with heroine" (Marie Claire) under fire in Miss Kopp Just Won't Quit.

I feel like the intensity in the series ramps up in this book. The stakes for Constance's main prisoner are higher (involuntary commitment to an insane asylum for an unspecified amount of time by her husband), the elections are in full swing (for Sheriff and for Congress), and in the background, the war is starting to show a larger impact. Unfortunately, Constance just cannot keep out of the newspapers, and the political implications of her appointment are starting to show their consequences. Heartbreaking in places, but ultimately incredibly effective storytelling that keeps the tale alive. What will happen next? I'm on the edge of my seat, and I can't wait for the next installment.

Another interesting and fun installment of the Kopp Sisters! Constance has excelled in her duties as a Deputy in early 1900s Patterson NJ. But there's plenty of resentment about a female working for the Sheriff's Department. When Deputy Kopp gets involved advocating for a woman wrongfully committed to an insane asylum, her opposition seeks to discredit both her and the Sheriff, who is in the middle of a campaign for Congress. The political scene becomes filled with lies and innuendo. Based on the real life events of Constance Kopp, researched and noted by the autho

I always enjoy these books; they're soothing reads in many ways, as Stewart doesn't try to over dramatise or create more suspense than history dictates. (This series is based on the real events and life of Constance Kopp.) This 4th instalment surrounds the election for Sheriff, a pivotal point for Constance, because the sitting sheriff - the one that was bold enough to hire a woman - has hit his term limit and can run. It's a bittersweet story with an interesting ending. I look forward to finding out how the Kopp sisters fare.

Yet another delightful installment of the Kopp Sisters series! It's amazing that Stewart has found such an interesting and well-documented and otherwise unknown historical figure to base these books on. As with the previous books, Constance Kopp continues to fight for justice and the fair treatment of women prisoners, while negotiating a difficult political landscape.

MISS KOPP JUST WON’T QUIT is historical fiction, the latest in a series about Constance Kopp, a deputy sheriff in New Jersey at a time, 1916, still early enough to refer to her as “lady deputy sheriff” rather than just “deputy sheriff.” Most of the characters in this book really did exist, and most of what happens is based on actual events that occurred either to these characters or to someone there at that time. For these reasons, MISS KOPP JUST WON’T QUIT is a worthwhile read. But I didn’t find it engaging. In other words, it is not a page turner. Many people give high ratings to books that don’t grab them as long as those books are otherwise commendable. I don’t.My bookclub received ARCs of MISS KOPP JUST WON'T QUIT through bookclubcookbook.com.

I love how Stewart has been able to weave real people into a book…especially a book with strong women who were there before women won the right to vote. Setting the story in an election year, in which Deputy Sheriff Kopp’s duties are part of the election fodder add to the story. I would read the books in order to get a feel for what has happened previously.

I've enjoyed this series from the beginning book, Girl Waits with Gun. Amy Stewart manages to make this character, based on the real Constance Kopp, entertaining while relaying facts and filling out the unknown with her imagination. Miss Kopp, aka Deputy Kopp, is no one to be messed with, but coming up against the good ol' boys network in the election year of 1916 is harder than dealing with any of the criminals she encounters. There is enough background given in any of the books following the first to help you learn some of the backstory and not feel lost, but I think it's more enjoyable if you start with book one. I enjoy the plots, I enjoy the characterization and I enjoy the writing. I just hope I don't have to wait too long for the next book.

Constance Kopp is Deputy Sheriff in Hackensack, NJ and the first woman to hold this or any other position in the sheriff's department. She is very good at her job but it is 1916 and being good at a job that is considered 'men's work' is frowned upon especially when she does it better than most men. When she is tasked with escorting a woman to the insane asylum, she begins to suspect that there is nothing wrong with the woman especially after she discovers that her husband has had her committed and not for the first time. But given that men have the right to do so, there is little she can do, at least openly, especially as her boss is running for Congress and his support for Constance is already causing him trouble in the election.Miss Kopp Just Won't Quit is the fourth installment in author Amy Stewart's Kopp Sisters historical mystery series based on the life of the real Constance Kopp. Not only does it provide an interesting mystery, it also provides a fascinating and clearly well researched look at attitudes towards women in the early part of the 20th century and, as it is 1916, how people viewed the likely entry of the US into WWI and the preparations being made for it. The Kopp Sisters is a compelling and entertaining series and this addition is no exception. If you like well-written historical mysteries based on real people that stay close to the real events of the times and with strong female protagonists, this is definitely the series for you. I love this unique and clever series loosely based on the real Constance Kopp. However in this installment, there are numerous plot lines, and I struggled to follow some of them and was not particularly intrigued by others. The story is set during 1916 which is an election year for Kopp’s boss Sheriff Heath, and I felt the portion of the story devoted to the election was the least interesting and the most detailed. Every series has its ups and downs, and I look forward to the next book in the series and hope the focus is back on Constance Kopp and her sisters and less on other smaller characters.
