About this audiobook
NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE from director Ridley Scott, starring Lady Gaga and Adam Driver
The sensational true story of murder, madness, glamour, and greed that shook the Gucci dynasty, now fully updated with a new afterword
On the morning of March 27, 1995, four quick shots cracked through Milan’s elegant streets. Maurizio Gucci, heir to the fabulous fashion dynasty, had been ambushed, slain on the steps to his office by an unknown gunman. Two years later, Milan’s chief of police entered the sumptuous palazzo of Maurizio’s ex-wife, Patrizia Reggiani—nicknamed “the Black Widow” by the press—and arrested her for the murder.
Did Patrizia kill her ex-husband because his spending was wildly out of control? Did she do it because he was preparing to marry his mistress? Or is it possible Patrizia didn’t do it at all?
The Gucci story is one of glitz, glamour, and intrigue—a chronicle of the rise, near fall, and subsequent resurgence of a fashion dynasty. Beautifully written, impeccably researched, and widely acclaimed, The House of Gucci is a page-turning account of high fashion, high finance, and heartrending personal tragedy

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The soap opera-esque events covered make this book's content good fun, but it's badly written and too long. It ended up being a chore to finish, which is a crime, given the made-for-TV antics of the pampered Gucci clan.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This book contained a thorough account of the Gucci Company and family history. The author did appear to jump back and forth in time periods. I would start feeling comfortable in the early 90s and the book was suddenly back somewhere in the 80s again. It was hard to follow at times. That is why I rated it a 4 star. All in all I enjoyed the reader and found the book fascinating.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The research that went into the fashion business mixed with life stores.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5What a jam-packed ride! A page turner dense with details, history and intrigue! I was sucked into the life of this crazy family drama. Very well researched and so interesting. I have not seen the movie and wanted to read this book first and now look forward to seeing how it was treated. There was so much fighting in the family and with other businesses. The excesses of success and failure. I found it very interesting and enjoyed learning about this world-famous name. Although I have never been fond of Gucci, but i could not put this story down and made me want to learn about so many of the people involved.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Parts of this VERY long audiobook were quite interesting. However, there were other parts that somehow lost me somewhere. I only knew about the Gucci company from the fancy leather goods (which I don't own!) so it was interesting to learn about the rise of the family and the eventual strife and murder.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Great book...
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The book begins with the shooting of Mauricio Gucci in the early nineties. It then rewinds to present a history of the firm. It Is from Florence Italy. While there is a legend the family built saddles hundreds of trays ago the author discounts that and tells the story of the modern fashion company. The main focus is on the family and the leaders of the company - how they lead their lives and spent the wealth they developed. There is a lot of detail that makes the story interesting to someone not in to style or fashion.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5You'd expect based on the title that it will be an interesting and entertaining read but this book is actually incredibly dry. Unless you are VERY into the world of fashion you'll listen to 16 1/2 hours of book that could have easily been trimmed down to 4-5 at most.
