About this audiobook

Kay Hooper's flair for storytelling and her broad mastery of genre are apparent in her electrifying novels. Her many works include modern and historical romances, fantasies, mysteries, gothic novels, and, like Out of the Shadows, suspense thrillers featuring psychic ability. The small, friendly town of Gladstone, Tennessee seems the ideal place to raise a family-until two teenagers are found tortured to death. Sheriff Miranda Knight will do anything to make her small town safe again, even if it means calling in Noah Bishop, the FBI's psychic profiler. The last time she and Noah combined their psychic powers, she was almost destroyed. Now she must learn to trust him again, or she will most certainly die at the hands of the monster who's stalking her town. Narrator C.J. Critt breathes life into the beautiful psychic sheriff with paranormal powers and transforms this exciting blend of romance, mystery, and suspense into an exciting listening experience.

Having read the first two in the Shadows series by Kay Hooper, I was really disappointed when I'd finished reading Out of the Shadows. This novel was nowhere near the same standard of writing as the first or second. Sheriff Miranda Knight is psychic and has escaped to a small town in America, where she has changed her name to escape her past.Miranda's past is referred to throughout the book, however the complete story came far too late and after waiting so long to find out, it was almost an anti-climax.The tension/romance between FBI Agent Bishop and Sheriff Miranda Knight annoyingly detracted from the plot in which young people were being murdered in the town. The snow storm was a cliche and I found myself rolling my eyes at the predictability of certain points.I read about the hunt for the murderer with interest and the ending was satisfying, however in general this was an average read. I would enjoy reading about further cases featuring this team of FBI Agents made up of psychics and those with special abilities, so I'll leave myself open to reading further books by Kay Hooper in the future.

It begins with the disappearence of three teenagers in a small town in Tenessee. Hooper soon introduces us to Miranda Bishop, the sheriff, with a mysterious past, and the dark mystery man FBI agent, Noah Bishop. As these characters interact sparks begin to fly and you are caught up in a great mystery with the added dazzle of pyschic abilities. Kay Hooper writes about the paranormal in such a way to make it all believable. She doesn't go overboard with it. I highly recommend this whole series. It would be a good idea to read them in order to get the full effect.

This is the 3rd book in the Bishop series. It was the first opportunity to meet Miranda who is the Sheriff of the town of Gladstone. After three teenagers are tortured and murdered, she calls in Noah Bishop, FBI Profiler and head of the Special Crimes Unit (SCU). As the two teams, the county sheriff's department and the FBI unit, work together to find the psychotic killer, we learn about Miranda and Noah's troubled history. I enjoyed both the story of finding the killer and the story of Miranda and Noah and how the past and present intertwine. The use of psychic abilities in the story did not overwhelm the plot, but added an interesting element. I am definitely going to read another one of the Bishop trilogies.

Sheriff Miranda Knight has a dual problem. She is trying to solve a series of murders and she has a secret: she is getting visions about these crimes. At first, I thought uh-oh a magig story but because the author makes clear up front that paranormal experiences are a "normal" occurrance, this book turned out very good.Miranda enlists the help of an old flame Noah Bishop and together with his special team solve not only the crimes but also how Miranda can use her extra skills to enforce justice.A quick and easy read.

Third in the "Shadows" trilogy. Fortunately, Hooper wrote more books based on the characters and Bishop's unit in the FBI. This is part of a book spiral and I'll be sending it along to the next participant.
