About this audiobook

Fancy Nancy is back in New York Times bestselling team Jane O'Connor and Robin Preiss Glasser's picture book Fancy Nancy: Fanciest Doll in the Universe, about the love little girls feel for their favorite dolls—and their favorite sisters!

Fancy Nancy's sister, JoJo, can really be a pest sometimes . . . like when she put Easter-egg dye in the kiddie pool and dunked Frenchy in it! But this time she's done something really bad, and Nancy is livid—that's fancy for tres angry and upset. JoJo drew a tattoo on Nancy's precious doll, Marabelle Lavinia Chandelier! Even worse, it's in permanent marker. That means it will never come out! When Mom suggests a fancy doll party to make Nancy feel better, Nancy is excited to accept. But what if the doll drama isn't over?

Fans of Fancy Nancy and fancy parties alike will delight in this story of how younger siblings can get on your nerves sometimes, but it always works out in the end. As always, the central theme of all the Fancy Nancy books shines through, showing how Nancy empowers girls with knowledge through her fascination with do-it-yourself fun!

Sometimes having a little sister creates a lot of trouble. One day JoJo, Nancy’s little sister, does something truly despicable: she gives Nancy’s doll Marabelle a pirate tattoo. To help cheer Nancy up, Nancy’s mom takes her to a gala for girls are their dolls. Nancy and Marabelle have a great time at the gala going on rides, eating delicacies, and looking at the fancy ball gowns in the doll dress shop. Unfortunately, a tragedy happens! Marabelle has been mixed up with another doll! As embarrassed as Nancy is about Marabelle’s tattoo, it allows Nancy to get her friend back again. Even though JoJo might sometimes be a handful, Nancy realizes that having a little sister isn’t all bad.

Fans of Fancy Nancy will be thrilled to read another story about this fun character. Nancy is still childish in her emotions and reactions, but readers who have been considered about how Nancy is too demanding and elitist to be a good role model will appreciate that in this one, Nancy learns that when things aren’t as fancy as she wants them to be, her sister is still the most important thing. Parents may want to use this book to help when one child accidentally ruins or makes a mess of something that is important to another child. This book doesn’t have as much creativity as some of the other Fancy Nancy books, but fans of the series will still enjoy reading about what happens to Nancy and Marabelle.

When her younger sister JoJo paints a tattoo on her favorite doll's tummy in indelible ink, Fancy Nancy is livid (a fancy word for very mad), and refuses to forgive her. Her mother attempts to console her, and suggests that they attend a gala for little girls and their dolls. Held at a fancy hotel, the gala is an exciting, extravagant event, until Nancy realizes that her doll has gotten mixed up with another girl's. Can she get Marabelle back? Will the tattoo come in handy after all...?Another engaging tale of a sympathetic but believable young girl with a longing to make everything fancy and a fondness for things that sparkle, Fancy Nancy: Fanciest Doll in the World is the fourteenth picture-book from author Jane O'Connor and illustrator Robin Preiss Glasser featuring their eponymous heroine. As always, I appreciated the balance between Nancy's natural appreciation of the finer (sparkly) things in life, and her warmhearted loved for her family. The artwork is as colorful and cute as always. In short: recommended to all Fancy Nancy fans, as well as to anyone looking for children's stories about siblings learning to forgive one another, even when they do annoying and thoughtless things.

Jane O'Connor's Fancy Nancy series are fun, colorful, girly stories about an over the top fancy little girl named Nancy. This particular story, Fanciest Doll in the Universe, tells the story of Fancy Nancy's dismay after she discovers her younger sister has drawn on the belly of Nancy's favorite doll. It is a great book for 5th and 6th grade readers, but also a wonderful read aloud for younger ones. O'Connor's use of larger vocabulary words, followed by their meaning is by far my favorite detail of the book. "Do you have siblings? That's fancy for sisters or brothers," Nancy tells the readers. You will even find a few French terms throughout, as Nancy continuously tries to one up her fanciness. In the end Nancy learns not only forgiveness, but acceptance of her younger sister, who may be a handful now, but will eventually mature to be as well behaved as Nancy herself.
