About this audiobook
A university lecturer and his PhD student embark on a research trip to a remote village in England to write about its dark history.
They think they know some of the stories. A burglar shot dead; a tragedy on the train tracks; and remnants of psychological experiments from the Cold War. But as they meet the inhabitants of Renslow, and try to make sense of their sometimes-odd behaviour, they wonder how much of this is connected, and how much is just them seeing patterns.
‘A fantastic mix of Twin Peaks, British rural hauntology, The X-Files, contemporary true crime drama and the psychogeographic world of Minimum Labyrinth’.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This story has a very well thought-out plot which unfolds progressively for the listener. The setting is a fictional East Anglian village inhabited by inexplicably eccentric folk, their problems apparently stemming from psychiatric experiments undertaken at a local hospital and funded by intelligence agencies. The story is loosely based on the real-life events of around 20 years ago in which a Norfolk farmer shot at two travellers who were burgling his farm, fatally wounding one of them. The plot is a good clean one which is steeped in espionage and the mystique of 80's tech - the Sinclair C5 is sure to become a cult-vehicle now. As well as being amusing, the story touches on fear, tragedy, sorrow and the nature of scholarly work, with a sense that life is a good deal better now that the cold war era is long-gone (not). You too could live in Bluebird world!
