About this audiobook

Spinster Miss Eleanor Lockhart is suddenly homeless and employment is her only option. Ruined after succumbing to a scoundrel’s excessive charm nearly a decade ago, she’s lucky to obtain a position as a paid companion and committed to behaving with the utmost propriety. She definitely shouldn’t be in the arms of a man capable of utterly destroying what little remains of her reputation...

Titus St. John, Duke of Kendal, is known as the Forbidden Duke, a mysterious, intimidating figure who enters Society just once each year at his stepmother’s ball. A decade ago, he was a devil-may-care rake until his idle roguery brought about the ruin of Eleanor Lockhart—and his resulting self-imposed isolation. Now she’s back, and she needs his help. But by “saving” her, he may just ruin her life all over again.

Darcy Burke

Darcy Burke is the USA Today bestselling author of hot, action-packed historical and sexy, emotional, contemporary romance. Darcy wrote her first book at age eleven, a happily-ever-after about a swan addicted to magic and the female swan that loved him, with exceedingly poor illustrations. A native Oregonian, Darcy lives on the edge of wine country with her guitar-strumming husband, their two hilarious kids who seem to have inherited the writing gene, and three Bengal cats. In her “spare” time, Darcy is a serial volunteer enrolled in a twelve-step program where one learns to say “no,” but she keeps having to start over. She’s also a fair-weather runner, and her happy places are Disneyland and Labor Day weekend at the Gorge.

    I really liked this one!

The narrator was excellent, she was able to voice different characters, so you always understood that it was someone else & even better... she did NOT give the heroine a childish voice, which I always find extremely off-putting.

I liked that there wasn't any angst (thank goodness), that the heroine was intelligent enough to recognise that even though he hadn't said "I love you", his actions had spoken louder than words ever could...

I LOVED that his step-parents were loving people & we got a rest from the wicked stepmother trope...

All in all, I really liked the introduction to this series... 5 stars from me!

Storyline itself was interesting until I hit chapter 10 and 11, when it turned to porn, I do wish It had a warning at the start. Perhaps Scribd could put this on to avoid any surprises to the readers

Thoroughly enjoyed this book and it won't be the last time I pick up a Darcy Burke book.

I like when characters are older then 18 and actually have a bit of history to them. I like how both character have had made a mistake that was damaging to them and how it was overcome.

Slower moving but never felt stilted or boring. It was also enjoyable that it didn't race to sex and that it never felt like that was the end goal but rather a lovely continuation to the storyline. I liked how you could feel the love building in a somewhat real setting.

The only downfall really is how often at the beginning Nora's mistake was brought up and how much if a big deal it was made of. It wasn't like it was something the read would forget and would've preferred more focus of what she'd learnt from that mistake like it seemed Titus had.

Definitely worth the read if you prefer a slow moving, more focus on the relationship type story than just something with multiple sex scenes and just trying to get from a to b.

I enjoyed this book greatly. I loved the flow and the realness of the book. There was a straightforwardness about it that made the story believable and real. Can’t wait to read the next in the series.
