About this audiobook

If there's one thing Mare Barrow knows, it's that she's different.

Mare's blood is red - the colour of common folk - but her Silver ability, the power to control lightning, has turned her into a weapon that the royal court tries to control.

The crown calls her an impossibility, a fake, but as she makes her escape from the prince and friend who betrayed her, Mare uncovers something startling: she is not the only one of her kind.

Pursued by the Silver king, Mare sets out to find and recruit other Red and Silver fighters to join in the struggle against her oppressors.

But Mare finds herself on a deadly path, at risk of becoming exactly the kind of monster she is trying to defeat. Will she shatter under the weight of the lives that are the cost of rebellion? Or have treachery and betrayal hardened her forever?

I totally adored it. It's an excellent book. I will continue it and I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

Hmm. This definitely left me in two minds.

I enjoy the story, but it just seems to be rather long winded with not much substance and not much that has really stuck with me, like it hasn’t captivated me.

Such a shame, but I will carry on, as I do really want to know what happens.

I'm not sure where to start.

I really wanted this book to get better as it went on but there was so much happening. Too much.

Mare was different from Red Queen and not in a good way. She became a character that lost who she was and it didn't suit her. The story needed more detail and to be more in-depth instead of throwing so much in to make it more action-packed.

The ending did shock me and Maeven isn't right by any standard at all. The ending probably saved it from being a 1 star and there were some reveals in there that brought back my interest but it isn't a series I want to carry on.
