“Combining suspense and intrigue with a wonderfully humorous take on the link between man and beast, Spencer Quinn’s exceptional mystery series has captured widespread praise since its New York Times bestselling debut, Dog on It”. In the fourth entry in the series, The Dog Who Knew Too Much, canine Chet becomes the focus of dognappers, while his partner Bernie is looking for a boy who has gone missing from a wilderness camp in the high country. The Dog Who Knew Too Much is classic Spencer Quinn, offering page-turning entertainment that’s not just for dog-lovers.I love this series featuring Bernie Little and his dog Chet who narrates the books. The mysteries are always suspenseful and solidly developed. But it’s Chet who makes this series. His love of life is exhilarating for me.Read this if: you love dogs and mysteries – or if you just love dogs – or if you just like mysteries. I really can’t be objective about Chet. 4½ stars

Chet and Bernie are back in action in the series' fourth book, this time they've accepted a lucrative bodyguarding gig that turns into the hunt for a missing little boy. Add in a shady fellow trying to steal Chet and a much enhanced roll by the erstwhile reporter and girlfriend Suzy and you have yet another rollicking ride with The Little Detective Agency. Then there's the question of a puppy from across the valley that looks like a perfect miniature version of Chet.... Another fun adventure from Quinn, and really, what's not to like about Chet and Bernie, right?

Spencer Quinn does it again. Chet and Bernie on another adventure with Chet telling the story from a dog's view. I really llke the jacket cover. Each time it seems you get a better look at Chet an Bernie. Chet the Jet and Bernie is always ready for a case. Chet reads Bernies body language with his different nods and shrugs both in tune to eachother. All I can say is Spencer Quinn has found his niche and I hope he continues with more books of the Bernie Little Agency along with Chet and Chets doggie friend across the street who always seems to be getting in trouble.I enjoy all the characters in these series. I find myself laughing at times because of Chet's train of thought and how he doesn't want to talk about that now.'

Chet and Bernie have returned for another installment in the life of the Little Detective Agency, which is very successful in every aspect except finances. In this book, Bernie is hired to pose as the "friend" of a divorced woman who has gone to see her son at a summer camp in the mountains. Except, when they arrive, the group of campers with whom Devin, the son, has gone out has not returned on schedule. Eventually they reappear, but Devin is missing. Bernie goes out with Turk, the guide, and Chet to search for Devin. And so, the adventure begins. The odd thing about this book is that Bernie plays no role in over half of it. Chet is the star with some stellar help by Suzy Sanchez towards the end. Chet and Suzy both quote Bernie's wisdom extensively, but it really does not add up to Bernie being there. While the whole plot is plausible, it does kind of stretch credulity. I felt that this is a bit weaker entry in the series than usual, mainly due to the lack of Bernie. When you read it, you will certainly understand why Bernie is not there, but I hope that he returns to his very important position in the next book. Chet's dialogue becomes a little repetitive after awhile even though he is a wonderful dog thinker. Spencer Quinn, in my mind, does the most excellent job of recording how a dog's thought process might work of any author who has ever tried it. Enjoy!

I've listed this as "set in California," but I think part of it is set in Nevada. Chet and Bernie are hired to provide escort service (not THAT kind! more like moral support)for a divorced woman who will be going to Parents' Weekend at her son's wilderness camp and expects to see her ex there. Not only is the ex not there, her son is missing. Before the happy ending, there will be some tough times for Bernie and still more for Chet, his canine partner. I continue to enjoy this series; the dog thinks and acts like a dog, and Bernie is a pretty engaging character too. Recommended quite highly.

Author, Spencer Quinn has the ability to write things that his dog Chet would say that honestly, I think my dog is thinking and relaying to me in looks and attitude. I truly think Chet is doing this! In short, this series is light but so very entertaining. If you are a real dog person there's a few chuckles in here for you with a little mystery.

This newest edition to the series finds Chet and Bernie looking for a missing boy. Devon disappeared during the night while on a hike. Bernie suspects he was bullied by the other boys; his camp counselor insists that he just wandered off; but Chet's nose can't find evidence of either scenerio. The truth ends up being much more sinister, involving meth labs and murder. Bernie is also arrested for the counselor's murder leaving his girlfriend Suzie and Chet to decipher much of the puzzle. Will they find Devon before it is too late? As with the rest of the series, the real draw is that Chet, the dog, is the narrator. Lots of fun and an unique perspective on events.
