Centuries ago, when Earth's Darkfolk -- vampires, werewolves, witches and other creatures -- were threatened by humanity, they departed our planet's dimension and journeyed to a shadowy realm, where they built the great city of Nekropolis. Matt Richter is an Earth cop who came through a portal to Nekropolis on a case, died, and was resurrected as a zombie. Unable to return home, he works as a private investigator on the very mean streets of this shadowy, dark city. And in this first case, Richter must help a delectable half-vampire named Devona recover a legendary artifact known as the Dawnstone, before it's used to destroy Nekropolis itself. That is, if he can survive the myriad horrors that infest the city.

Meet Matt Richter. Zombie. PI. From his arrival at Nekropolis, Matt has found himself embroiled in disputes with the city's vampire lords, shapeshifters, golems and other monstrosities. Nothing has prepared him for the Dark War.

We return to P.I. Matthew Richter, currently a zombie, in the city of Nekropolis. In this case, he's after a wand that turns things into silver, but before he can get far in his search he's forced to use a coin to turn himself into a human. He's got one shot now to back home to his significant other for their only chance at having a kid... but of course all of Nekropolis is out to get him (or so it seems).

What do you get when you combine a self-willed zombie with a half-human vampire? That burning question was left unanswered at the end of Nekropolis 3, Dark War, when we learned that half vampire Devona and her zombie Private Investigator husband, Matt Richter, were expecting twins. “I know you're wondering how a dead man could impregnate a half-human, half-vampire woman. The short answer is magic. The long answer is none of your goddamned business.” In Dark War, Matt and Devona saved Nekropolis and our earth from colliding, saving both worlds from destruction. Now, can the two of them save their own family from a magical force that wants to rip it apart?
