Description

Welcome to the second episode of this new season, in which I interview the wonderful Dr Karen Kirkness!Karen is a yoga practitioner and recovering academic. Her book, Spiral Bound: Integrated Anatomy for Yoga, provides a rationale for curating movement practices that are led by the rotational constraints of the body. In this podcast (recorded in 2023 before Karen was rightfully awarded her PhD) we share our admiration for each other’s work and our fascination with spiral anatomy. If you are a movement teacher or manual practitioner; if you are a mother, a daughter, a husband, a son, a father, a friend or a professional colleague, if you juggle and spin one hundred plates on sticks – (ie, if you have a pulse) – then there is magic in this conversation for you too. It is published in celebration of Dr Kirkness’s work, and in loving appreciation of her contribution to the world.I hope you enjoy us enjoying each other as much as we did! JoanneMORE ABOUT DR KAREN KIRKNESS:Karen holds a doctorate in medical sciences from Hull York Medical Student where she currently teaches embryology and anatomy.
