In the medical arena, various AI programmes like Large Language Models and Foundation Models are being used in many specialities, both in research and clinically. AI’s ability to rapidly process vast amounts of data and identify subtle patterns affords unrivalled potential within medicine. It can also help save money by streamlining processes. But there are risks. As the technology advances so do concerns over inaccurate diagnoses that could exacerbate health inequalities that already exist in the system.
