When NHL.com dropped its list of the top fantasy breakthrough candidates for the upcoming NHL season, you know the boys had to serve up their own list of hockey players worth looking into for your fantasy team.

Today's episode features a look into a number of intriguing young players on the verge of having a big offensive and fantasy season, including Colorado Avalanche blue-liner Bowen Byram and underrated forward Alex Newhook, both of which are former top-20 draft picks with a ton of upside on a great team.

Other breakthrough fantasy candidates include the likes of Anaheim Ducks third overall pick Mason McTavish who already is turning heads in NHL and fantasy hockey circles for his tremendous offensive potential. Ottawa Senators Tim Stutzle is going to be huge this season but do not tell that to Steele.
