Description

The value of all kids feeling safe in their schools and in their communities is one shared across the country. And no matter where the learning is taking place, creating safe and welcoming educational environments is a top priority in the Hillsboro School District.
Therefore, in recognition of October being National Bullying Prevention Month, we invite all students and families to get to know our state and local resources.
Our Featured Event is Fossil Fun! Last year, fossils were found while boring the Willamette Water Supply Program pipeline tunnel under the Butternut Creek area in South Hillsboro. An archaeologist determined the fossils to be from a Bison species, likely the now-extinct Oregon Bison antiquus. The fossils found a home at the Jackson Bottom Wetlands Nature Center for preservation, display, and educational purposes. The Nature Center is open to the public every day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., except holidays. Visit the Jackson Bottom Wetlands website for additional information and upcoming events.
Superintendent Scott will hold Coffee Chats from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 18th at Longbottom Coffee & Tea, and from 8 to 9 a.m. on Wednesday, October 19th at Ava Roasteria. Please join us!
Hot News is produced and emailed to HSD families and staff each week school is in session. Please add the address to your “safe sender” list to make sure you always receive the latest issue.
