Description

Malo  and welcome to Season 3 Episode 49 of Breakfast Bites, by  TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on another  absolutely stunning sky-blue Friday morning 18 November 2022, coming to  you from paradise on the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific  Ocean! In  rugby league – Fiji Bati Captain Kevin Naiqama and the youngest player  for Fiji at the RLWC, Josh Wong attended the Fiji National Rugby League  30th Anniversary Dinner at the GPH in Suva on Wednesday, mainly  honouring the Pioneers who started rugby league in Fiji in 1992. Among  them on the night were Captain Alifereti Dere, Livai Nalagilagi, Niko  Baliverata and Joe Rabele. Officials  expect a crowd of 64,000 for the RLWC final between Australia and Samoa  which will take the total for the tournament past the 382,080 from the 2017 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand but  will fall below the record of 453,483 for the RLWC in England 2013. Go Samoa Go. In  rugby union – all the big rugby tests this weekend: Scotland-Argentina,  Ireland-Australia, England-All Blacks, Italy-South Africa,  France-Japan, Tonga-Uruguay, Romania-Samoa and USA-Portugal for the last  place in the RWC 2023 in Fiji’s Pool in France. In  Qatar – the FIFA World Cup starts on Sunday, offering one of the  largest prize pools in global sports. FIFA will distribute US$440Million to the 32 qualifying men’s teams, with the winning team receiving US$42M. In addition to the prize pool, Club teams that employ players at the World Cup will receive US$10,000 for each day that player is involved in the tournament, totaling US$209M over the 64 games. In boxing – Kiwi-Nigerian UFC superstar, Israel Adesanya was arrested at JFK Airport terminal in New York just days after he lost his title to Alex Prereira.  Adesanya was arrested for being in possession of metal knuckles, which  is illegal in New York. The fighter was released with a warning. In tennis – facing  growing protests for change, Wimbledon is relaxing its rule for  all-white clothing to allow female players to wear "mid/dark-colored  undershorts" to be more comfortable during their periods. The  All England Club said it decided to update the rules after discussions  "with the WTA, clothing manufacturers and medical teams on how best to  support women and girls competing at the championships.'' The  new rules state that women can now "wear solid, mid/dark-colored  undershorts provided they are no longer than their shorts or skirt.'' Cheers Girls!
