Description

Malo  and welcome to Season 3 Episode 09 of Breakfast Bites, by  TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on this cloudy  Sunday morning 09 October 2022, coming to you from paradise on the 180th  meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. In rugby - the Women’s Rugby World Cup continues today in Whangārei with the USA vs Italy at 12:45pm followed by Japan vs Canada and Wales vs Scotland. Yesterday at Eden Park, France flipped South Africa 5-40, England flexed in the second half and fandangoed Fiji 19-84 and the Black Ferns frapped Australia 17-41. Did you see the Black Ferns Haka? What a thing of beauty! In football – UEFA estimates the fan base for Women’s soccer will double to 328 million in the next decade, and the commercial value of women’s soccer could increase six-fold in the next 10 years to US$700Million. With sponsorships at US$300M per year, media rights worth US$260M annually and matchday revenue at more than US$137M each year. Follow the money girls. In boxing – on  his fourth attempt at a world title, Dennis Hogan beat Sam Eggington by  majority decision to win the IBO Super Welterweight World title. Roared  on by his passionate Irish fans, Hogan put on the performance of a  lifetime in a fight that went down to the wire. Two judges scored it 116-112 to Hogan and one called it a draw. In rugby league – Payne  Haas has won a historic fourth consecutive Paul Morgan Medal as  Brisbane Broncos’ NRL Player Of The Year — equalling Allan Langer as the  only other Bronco to win the award four times in a row. Jason  Taumalolo claimed a remarkable sixth Paul Bowman Medal for the Cowboys  Player of the Year. The Cowboys co-captain appeared in 23 of a possible  24 games in the regular season and again finished inside the top 10 in  the NRL for Total Metres Ran and also for Post-contact Metres Ran. If  you don’t understand all that Metres Ran stuff don’t worry, it’s a  Island thingy – you know eat plenty pork to build your muscles and run  fast!
