Description

Malo and welcome to Season 2 Episode 31 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on this bright and warm Sunday morning 31 July 2022 - coming to you from the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Team Fijiana will play Australia in the Commonwealth Games Womens Gold medal game tomorrow after they beat Canada 7-24 and Australia 17-12 New Zealand in the semi-finals today. In the Mens semi-finals tomorrow, it’s Fiji v the All Blacks 7s and Australia v South Africa after Fiji 34-7 Scotland, South Africa 33-0 Canada, New Zealand 31-0 Kenya and Australia 7-0 Samoa in the Quarter-finals this morning. In the NRL - the Tigers produced a massive 32-18 upset win over the Broncos at Suncorp last night to snap a seven-game losing streak. New-look halves duo Adam Doueihi and Jock Madden were key to the win with Doueihi nailing six from six goals and Madden scoring a try and setting up two. Nicho Hynes sealed a famous win for the Sharks over the Rabbitohs 20-21 in a golden point thriller after Latrell Mitchell missed three field goals and Tom Burgess was sent off for a high tackle in the second period of golden point. In football – Papua New Guinea are the Womens Oceania Champions after they beat hosts Fiji in Suva yesterday. In Europe - the total tournament attendance record of 240,055 set at Women's EURO 2017 in the Netherlands has been smashed by the Women's EURO 2022, with the total attendance of this tournament now at 487,683 with at least 75,000 fans expected at the final at Wembley tomorrow morning. Another interesting stat – as 47% of all fans are female, they have taken nearly 100,000 children to EURO 2022 games so far. And in boxing - The Iranian Hulk and Kazakh Titan weighed a combined 236Kg for their boxing fight in Dubai tomorrow night before engaging in one final shoving match. The Hulk tipped the scales at 136Kg while The Titan came in considerably lighter at a trim 100Kg. Some of my Tongan Aunties are much er stronger than these guys – just saying!
