Border crossings slowed down this past spring after the United States prepared for a surge following the end of Title 42. However, the numbers are on the rise again this summer, climbing nearly 30% in July. Texas Governor Gregg Abbott (R-TX) has taken matters into his own hands by installing a floating border made up of buoys and razor wire along the Rio Grande in an effort to stop migrants from wading through the water. The Justice Department is suing Texas over this citing that it violates the Rivers and Harbors Appropriation Act of 1899.
