Description

The latest on the brutal weekend cold snap that swept over much of the country, killing at least 55 people. The worst of it is in western New York state. More snow blew through the Buffalo area overnight, and President Biden has declared a federal emergency there. Travelers who endured a nightmare journey to their Christmas destinations could have just as much trouble getting home. More than 17,000 flights in the U.S. have been cancelled since last Wednesday, leaving hundreds of thousands scrambling to make new plans. Now to the newest border fight between the Biden Administration and Texas Governor Greg Abbott. More than 100 migrants, bused from Texas to Washington, arrived at Vice President Kamala Harris's official residence on Christmas eve, when it was below freezing. The newly-elected congressman caught lying about his background is talking publicly about it for the first time. In a pair of interviews with conservative news outlets in New York City, Representative-elect George Santos defended his record, but admitted he had misstated his true biography. Most of the lies were revealed in an investigation by the New York times earlier this month. Health experts say a jump in flu, RSV, and COVID-19 cases could get worse after holiday gatherings. All these respiratory illnesses are driving up demand for children's medicines, and some pharmacy shelves are now empty. Turning to Ukraine, where the country's leaders are talking openly about the possibility of peace talks even as the fighting continues. Despite the war, Ukraine's Jewish community still managed to celebrate Hanukkah.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
