Description

According to a report by 247Sports' Travis Branham, Baylor guard LJ Cryer, who is not officially in the transfer portal, plans to enter the portal in the coming days. This news highlights how quickly the transfer portal landscape can change, with big-time talents like Cryer potentially entering at any moment. Cryer, who is 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds, had an impressive first season as a full-time starter, averaging 15.0 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 2.0 assists. His exceptional shooting ability, with a 41.5% 3-point shooting percentage on 6.2 attempts per game, makes him a highly coveted player in the transfer portal.
Cryer was among a select group of Division I players who made at least 80 3-pointers in the 2022-23 season, and he has a career shooting percentage of 42.5% from beyond the arc. He also boasts impressive efficiency numbers in other areas, shooting 49.7% on 2-pointers and 89.4% at the free throw line last year. Despite these statistics, Cryer had the third-highest usage rate for Baylor, behind freshman Keyonte George and veteran Adam Flagler, with a usage rate of 20.3%.
Sources have revealed that Cryer is interested in playing point guard at his next destination, adding to his appeal in the transfer portal. As Cryer prepares to enter the portal, many schools are expected to express interest in recruiting him, making him a sought-after player in the transfer market. The rapidly changing landscape of the transfer portal has once again been highlighted by Cryer's imminent move, showcasing how quickly things can shift in the world of college basketball transfers.
