On today’s episode, we talk with Sonia Macias, a single mom who lost her entire portfolio, about how she went from surviving mode to striving mode to rebuild her wealth and inspire her daughters.  We discuss the importance of helping yourself before helping others, transitioning from flipping to rentals, and how she was able to set herself up for success after such an impactful life event. Sonia also shares how she finds deals in today’s market and what it’s like being a single mom doing it all. Sonia was born in Mexico City and was brought to the U.S. at 9 years old. She now resides in Omaha, Nebraska. Starting to work at a young age, Sonia learned the value of hard work and realized she wanted to do more with her life. After graduating college, Sonia married her high school sweetheart, had two daughters, climbed the corporate ladder in the banking industry, and built a real estate portfolio consisting of many flips and eight rentals. After 15 years of marriage, she asked for a divorce and lost everything they had built together. Financially, she saw a 70% household income loss and knew she had to change things fast.
