Description
With three guys seemingly in the running to be the starter, Washington Football has announced that Indiana transfer Michael Penix Jr. will be the starter for the Huskies in 2022 under first-year HC Kalen DeBoer. Penix beat out Dylan Morris and former 5-star QB Sam Huard to get the starting nod up in Seattle. Does this change anything for Washington and how much success they could have this year as DeBoer and co. try to turn the program around?
On today's episode of Locked On Pac-12, Spencer McLaughlin is joined by Carter Bahns, senior editor/writer at BeaverBlitz.com. They discuss what it means for the Huskies to have named Penix as their starter for 2022, and whether or not he can get back to his peak form as a college QB--which came with Kalen DeBoer as his offensive coordinator. Despite this announcement, Washington's noteworthy QB news is not yet done.
They also discuss ESPN's power rankings of Pac-12 football teams ahead of the 2022 season, which has some surprises on it in addition to a few expected rankings. Notably, ESPN has some differences in where writers put teams in the power rankings compared to the computer-generated FPI projections ahead of the season which starts next week.
