Description
A chaotic 2021 season that saw Washington Football go 4-8 ending with a big loss in the Apple Cup led the administration to make a change at head coach. Kalen DeBoer comes into Seattle having brought in a transfer QB (and likely starter) with the addition of Michael Penix Jr., who spent a year with DeBoer as his OC in 2019 at Indiana. Their over/under win total is set at 7.5 for the 2022 season, which might be overvaluing Washington this year.
On today's episode of Locked On Pac-12, Spencer McLaughlin goes through a prediction for each of the Huskies' games in 2022. Fortunately they will have two "tune-up" games prior to a nationally-televised contest with Michigan State, who finished 2021 as an 11-win program under former Colorado HC Mel Tucker. Washington should easily have a 2-0 start to the year, but could very easily drop their next two games despite all four being played at home in Seattle.
As the Pac-12 slate goes on, some tough road games will make it challenging for Kalen DeBoer to get to .500 in his first season as the Huskies' head coach. With road games against UCLA, Oregon, and Washington St, the Dawgs will have to be road warriors to have a successful season. Reaching a bowl game would be a good turnaround from last year, but if that doesn't happen it would not be time to start worrying about their new head coach.
