Description

Colorado Football has revamped their coaching staff around HC Karl Dorrell after finishing 4-8 in 2021. Brendon Lewis started all 12 games last year in his 2nd season on campus (first as a starter), but a QB battle is still expected with JT Shrout who is still working his way back from an injury. It's too soon to tell how that will play out since Colorado was missing a bevy of players who will be prominent come this Fall.
On today's episode of Locked On Pac-12, Spencer McLaughlin takes a look at how Colorado Football is preparing for their third year under HC Karl Dorrell. Though there was far from a full compliment of starting-caliber bodies in Boulder at the showcase, several names still stood out. Baylor WR transfer RJ Sneed II could provide some much-needed explosiveness for an offense that was abysmal last season. Former offensive recruits (and HS teammates at Durango HS) Jordan Woolverton and Ben Finneseth have impressed Karl Dorrell in their transitions to safety from QB and WR, respectively. DE/OLB Jamar Montgomery could provide some important depth on the defensive front seven.
In the offseason, the Buffaloes lost several players on the defensive side of the ball: CB Christian Gonzales (Oregon), CB Mekhi Blackmon (USC), and LBs Nate Landman and Carson Wells to the NFL Draft. As they look to build for the Fall, the Buffaloes should look to utilize the transfer portal to retool their defense this year. Offensively, new OC Mike Sanford has compared the program to Stanford circa 2007--one that is honest about where it's at but also driven by goals to compete in the conference.
To round out the week, Spencer is joined by John Garcia Jr, the director of recruiting for Sports Illustrated. With all the Spring games happening, they discuss how much of an impact these games can have on recruits. Plus, a look at the to Pac-12 transfers for 2022.
