Description

The people. It’s the best part about partaking in the automotive lifestyle. Regardless of how much money you make, political views, or simply your outlook on life, our love for all things that go VROOM-VROOM ultimately brings us together. I met Scotty Birdsall years ago after filming Old Smokey, his diesel powered and Pikes Peak record setting, 1949 Ford pickup - a truck that must be seen to be believed. Scotty Birdsall of Chuckles Garage in Santa Rosa, California was our 2nd guest ever on the Hemmings Hot Rod BBQ podcast, and as it’s been well over a year since we’ve had him on, we decided to check in with him and see what’s been happening. Turns out, A LOT. For instance, in addition to churning out some of the coolest hot rods around, he’s since opened Resolute Motorsports, a company that specializes in overlanding air-cooled Porsche 911s. We then spoke about his 2022 Pikes Peak effort which sees him out from behind the wheel of Old Smokey, and into the seat of a Le Mans Prototype LMP1 car. His land speed racer Toyota mini-truck effort came next, along with WOOSHIE-BOOSHIES, the two words that best describe the modern-day turbo charger. This is a great show with one of our favorite people, so grab a seat, take a listen, and welcome Scotty Birdsall back to the Hemmings Hot Rod BBQ Podcast.

Dan Stoner and Mike Musto have been in this business for quite some time. Stoner comes from the world of big advertising and publishing before coming to Hemmings, while Musto made a name for himself as an automotive journalist and show creator. What do they have in common? Well, everything and nothing. They’ve got different tastes in cars and are both jealous of each other’s grooming habits, YET, they both love everything automotive culture has to offer. Thus, an idea was hatched, and The Hemmings Hot Rod BBQ was born!
