Description
The University of Texas took drastic measures earlier this week when officials announced the decision to move all course instruction to online classes amid the growing concern over the spread of the Coronavirus. The decision came down a few days after UT officials announced it had shut down the Forty Acres campus after President Greg Fenves' wife tested positive for COVID-19, putting the Fenves family into self-isolation. As the Longhorns make their way through uncharted waters, there's a chance that this change in course schedules could impact the futures of both Shaka Smart and Texas football.
In this week's edition of The Flagship Podcast, Horns247 columnist Chip Brown and managing editor Taylor Estes discuss the latest changes to the spring semester, and if this pandemic may have saved Smart his job considering the Longhorns were unable to participate in either the Big 12 and NCAA Tournaments after both events were canceled.
In addition to the impact of the basketball program, Texas football's spring practice schedule is in limbo amid the Coronavirus pandemic, and Chip and Taylor discuss the impact this could make on the Longhorns as they are hoping to install an entirely new offense and defense with seven new assistant coaches on staff.
Chip and Taylor welcome in 247Sports College Basketball Analyst Evan Daniels for his take on the cancellation of the NCAA Tournament, what he's hearing about Smart's future and how five-star Greg Brown is still in play for the Longhorns, though there's one caveat that could change his recruitment.
Chip and Taylor close the show with some questions from the Horns247 audience, and give a bit of a humorous approach on being self-isolated with family members.
Catch all of that and more on the latest episode of The Flagship Podcast.
