Thanks! ?? Welcome back to Part 2 of my first regional series of the year, the Washington State Wine Deep Dive 2021. I am of course Interpreting Wine Host and Founder Lawrence Francis. Across three episodes we will explore the terroir, geology, winemaking culture and wines of the US’s second largest quality wine producing region, which is regularly ranked among the world's top wine regions…  Guests are drawn from landmark producers in the Columbia valley, the Yakima valley and Walla Walla. Uniquely placed to translate the larger story that each glass of Washington State Wine represents. We continue the today with an in-depth look at the Yakima Valley in the capable hands of Kerry Shiels, second generation wine maker at Côte Bonneville based in Sunnyside, Washington State.   Kerry tells us her origin story, talk about the first generation of winemakers in the region, including pioneers Walter Clore and Wade Wolfe. Before we virtually explore geological influences that pre-date those which we explored in Part 1. We explore a regional point of differentiation with their vines planted on their own root stock and the impact it has. Before we taste three bottles produced in relatively tiny quantities each year and explore the winemaking influence. The 2019 DuBrul Vineyard Riesling with a production of around 200 cases, 2,400 bottles. 2013 Syrah, which is produced in similar amounts. And the 2012 Côte Bonneville Bordeaux Blend, of which around 500 cases, 6,000 bottles are produced each year. Kerry closes by looking outside of the Yakima Valley, discussing the opportunities to try these wines internationally. And looks ahead for the region in the short and medium term.   Intro and outro musicThe New Investorshttp://newinvestors.dk/Contact: glenn@velournet.dk Guest: Kerry Shiels, Côte Bonneville Date recorded: 20 January 2021 Listen and subscribe: www.interpretingwine.com  WASHINGTON STATE CONTACT https://www.washingtonwine.org/ https://twitter.com/Wa_State_Wine https://www.instagram.com/wa_state_wine https://www.facebook.com/WashingtonStateWine GUEST CONTACT  https://www.cotebonneville.com/ https://www.instagram.com/cotebonneville/ CONTACT INTERPRETINGWINE Instagram: https://www.interpretingwine.com/instagram Facebook: https://www.interpretingwine.com/facebook Twitter: https://www.interpretingwine.com/twitter Email: hello@interpretingwine.com   Washington State Wine Deep Dive 2021 SERIES DIRECT LINK www.interpretingwine.com/WASHINGTONSTATE2021
