Description

In this episode we discuss the difference between actually spending time with the Lord and just reading the Bible. The passages that we focus on are Matthew 11:28; Luke 10:38-42; Genesis 32:24-26; Luke 11:5-10; and Luke 18:1-8.CORRECTIONS:When describing the ways by which we can be certain that Jacob was wrestling with the Lord I mentioned that one noteworthy thing was how Jacob received a name change (to Israel). I mentioned how Abraham had previously received the same thing. That was not to say that the Lord is the only individual in the Scriptures who will change someone’s name. For example, Moses renamed someone named Hoshea and gave him the name Joshua (Numbers 13:16). This is the Joshua after whom the book of Joshua is named. So, it’s possible for a human to rename another, but it is also something we see the Lord doing. In retrospect while I was trying to prove from the Scriptures that this individual with whom Jacob wrestled was the Lord I wish I had included Genesis 32:30: “So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel, saying, ‘For I have seen God face to face, and yet my life has been delivered.’” This clearly shows the point I was trying to make.Near the end, when quoting Psalm 66:18 I said, "If I had cherished iniquity in my heart, You would not have listened." The text actually says, "If I had cherished iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not have listened." Obviously, this doesn't affect the meaning at all. When quoting Matthew 5:23-24 I says, "if you are offering your gift before the altar...", whereas the text says, "so if you are offering your gift at the altar..." Once again, this makes no practical difference. I just want to faithfully quote the text.Feel free to email any questions or comments you have to ijustwanttotalkabout@gmail.com.
