Description

Today’s guest is Charles Dudley
Charles is currently the lead Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Queensland Reds Super W Team and the Nudgee College 1st XV.
Charles has previously held roles within various organisations such as the Chinese Olympic Committee Ice Hockey program, and the Victorian Weightlifting Association.
Complementing his strength and conditioning background, Charles also worked as a Rugby coach for seven years, coaching 1st XV, Club and Melbourne Rebels Pathways programs across both mens, womens, 15's and 7's programs in Victoria.
Charles is currently completing his PhD, investigating novel ways of assessing training load in adolescent athletes.
During our chat we spoke about how the S and C coach and the rugby can work together with the technical and tactical aspects of coaching.
How as a grassroots coach you can get rid of your conditioning blocks and make training more intense.
Also, we discussed setting decision making activities in training and finding what is a players motivation.
We discussed being responsible for your own development and choosing your mentors wisely, also not being afraid to take risks.
I really hope you enjoy this chat and hopefully you can get some great take aways with regards the S and C space and grassroots coaching.

This Pod is about the journey we take as grassroots coaches. As most coaching pods speak with elite players and coaches, which is great. I want to talk to the coaches on the front line, the ones out there every weekend helping at the grassroots level. We will discuss the heartache, disappointment, enjoyment and euphoria we experience as coaches of the next generation of players. We will also discuss the lessons we learnt along the way, what we would do to fix the game at the grassroots level and how we see the game in the future. You never know we might just learn something along the way.
