Description
In this episode of Veggie Doctor Radio, I talk with Dr. Armaiti May, a vegan Veterinarian that informs us on raising plant-based pets, specifically dogs. About featured guest: Armaiti May, DVM is a practicing small animal veterinarian and vegan advocate. From a young age, she loved animals and knew she wanted to devote her life to helping them. She grew up in Santa Monica and attended Samohi where she graduated in 1997 before attending UC Berkeley, where she graduated with a B.S. in Bioresource Sciences in 2001. A 2005 graduate of the University of California, Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. May worked at an emergency dog and cat hospital and then trained in veterinary acupuncture through the Chi Institute of Chinese Medicine. For the past nine years she has had a veterinary housecall practice for dogs and cats in the Los Angeles area. Dr. May has volunteered offering spay and neuter services to disadvantaged communities locally and abroad, including Guatemala and Nicaragua. She has served on the Board of Directors for RedRover, an animal organization that brings animals out of crisis and into care and is currently President of Vegan Toastmasters, a public speaking organization which empowers vegans to speak effectively on behalf of animals. Dr. May completed her certification in animal chiropractic from Options for Animals in 2015. Currently she runs a non-profit organization called the Veterinary Association for the Protection of Animals to educate the veterinary profession about the benefits of veganism and encourage veterinary schools to offer humane surgical teaching methods in their curriculum.
