Description

“It’s scrumdidilyumptious! It’s everybody’s non-pollutionary, anti-institutionary, pro-confectionery factory of fun!”
What do chicken beheadings, child kidnappings, and a psycho in a tophat all have in common?  That’s right, people, we are talking about Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory--the 1971 horrifying children’s classic tale of a chocolate factory tour gone awry.
This is not to be confused with the god-awful Tim Burton adaptation (and while we all love Burton, Danny Elfman and Johnny Depp, that movie  should rot in the depths of hell from which it surfaced).
But in all seriousness, Roald Dahl, the beloved author, created something seriously dark and sinister; and although his “vision” did not make it to the big screen, Gene Wilder portrays such an intricate version of “The Candyman,” and he still embodies so much of all our childhoods--we’re sure yours, as well. What were his terms and conditions, the fine print for Wilder to take the role? Something that defines the foundations of the character!
Do we talk about the Charlie & the Chocolate factory prequel with Timothee Chalamet?!?! Listen to find out. Your favorite Slashers co hosts delve into all facets of horror and how they apply to this film, in addition to which of our choices for MAYbe Horror Month reigns supreme.
We’d like to thank you for listening this month; come with us to a world of pure imagination, and let us know your thoughts--is Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory a true horror film?
