Description

This week’s film is Legion. No, not the X-Men TV show, Google! Please just let me finish my research so I can go to sleep!
Anyway, the film stars Paul Bettany (Avengers: Infinity War, Manhunt: Unabomber, A Knight’s Tale) and was directed by Scott Stewart (Priest, Dominion, Dark Skies). The pair would team up twice within a year of each other for Legion and Priest, which make a pretty decent double feature. Bettany plays Michael, an angel who willingly transubstantiates to become a man and defy God to help save humanity.
Basically, Adrianne Palicki (Orville, John Wick, From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series), is pregnant with the next savior of humanity, but God wants to do the ol’ ctrl+alt+del on humanity and does not want the baby born. Instead, he sends a horde of angels to possess people and do his bidding.
Notable villains include Doug Jones (Hellboy, The Shape of Water, Pan’s Labyrinth) and Jeanette Miller (Quantum Leap, Star Trek: Voyager, Austin Powers). Miller plays Gladys, the seemingly sweet old lady, who lets the cast know that there is some divine tomfoolery about. Jones plays the bit part of a possessed ice cream man, which is sadly squandered, because it is visually impressive. Kevin Durand (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Vikings, 3:10 to Yuma) plays Gabriel, the sassy angel with bulletproof wings.
Lucas Black and Tyrese Gibson of the Fast & Furious franchise are in the film. One is kind of a racial stereotype and the other is named after a car, so there’s that.
This week’s Hidden Track is Twilight Creeps, with their song Night of the Demons.
