Description

Today, Joy welcomes Dr. Tracey Beaulne ND, R. AC, to the podcast for a very important discussion about gut health and the microbiome. Tracey has almost two decades of experience in integrative healthcare, and is a leader in separating the truth in health information from the sea of misinformation. In partnership with the University of Toronto’s Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy and Genuine Health, Tracey co-founded and is the host of Town Hall Medicine, where she interviews experts in the field of microbiome science to learn about their research and share it with all who are interested. She is also a co-founder of The Tummy Clinic, which is a team of ‘gut strategists’ from various disciplines whose mission is to surround their clients with the most comprehensive and coordinated IBS care possible. Tracey begins the conversation by sharing her health journey and how it propelled her toward naturopathy, her battle with IBS, and her concepts of lifestyle medicine and planetary health. She then explains the microbiome, the research involving them, and how her interest in them began. We then engage in an extensive exploration of the microbiome, including their impact upon our health, the importance of maintaining diversity within them and how to achieve that, their role in Tracey’s work, and how the shift of health in humanity is related to them. We also chat about the factors which impact microbes, preventing digestive disorders, supporting regenerative farming, fecal transplant studies and stool sample testing.     Episode Highlights:    Tracey’s journey to naturopathy Her battle with IBS Lifestyle medicine Planetary health How her interest in the microbiome grew What the microbiome means Microbiome research Reasons to care about the health of your microbiome and how microbes impact our health Fecal microbiota transplant studies in humans The importance of diversity of the microbiome and how to achieve it How the shift in the health of humanity is related to the health of the microbiome Finding food from microbial rich soil The work of Dr. Sarah Hargreaves and supporting regenerative farming The impact of antibiotics, diet, sleep, exercise, being in nature, and stress on the microbiome How to prevent digestive disorders such as IBS Prebiotic foods The Tummy Clinic Tracey’s strategies for managing stress, especially meditation Stool sample testing   Resources: Tracey’s Homepage:   http://drtraceynd.com/  Tummy clinic:   https://thetummyclinic.ca/ Town Hall Medicine:   https://townhallmedicine.com/ More about Joyous Health  Check out our award-winning blog Joyous Health  Check out Joy’s bestselling cookbooks Follow Joyous Health on Instagram Find Joyous Health on Facebook Learn more about The Joyous Health Business Program Check out our full line of Natural & Organic Haircare and Body Care.
