Description

What We’re Talking About In This Episode! Is coffee feeding your chronic stress or fatigue? All the factors that can influence how coffee affects you How green smoothies helped me replace coffee The difference between caffeine in matcha vs caffeine in coffee Ways to give yourself an energy boost without the caffeine Key remedies to help your body have more energy naturally   Episode Summary:  Recently I have been hearing a lot about a controversial subject in women’s health. The question that everyone’s asking me is, ‘is coffee bad for your adrenal health?’. There seems to be a new study every day villainizing our coffee habit, yet we still hear that coffee can be beneficial for many of our bodily functions. Today I am here to set the record straight about coffee and how it is affecting you. Personally, I love coffee, it is part of my morning ritual and something I look forward to, but this wasn’t always the case. For many years I was using coffee to escape my zombie state, and it wasn’t until I broke up with coffee that I found out that coffee wasn’t the whole culprit. Those of us who deal with chronic stress and chronic fatigue often supplement our lack of energy with caffeine. This can plague our adrenal glands which creates a domino effect that puts our bodies at a heightened survival state, which can make us feel awful. Because coffee affects everyone so differently, it is up to us to listen to our bodies and decipher for ourselves what levels of caffeine we can handle.  Coffee can have many health benefits as long as it is not being used as a crutch. Do you have a love or a hate relationship with coffee? Today’s episode will help you get your relationship with coffee back on track. What’s your relationship with coffee like? Let me know in the comments on the episode page!   Quotes: “Back in the day… I literally felt like a zombie just moving through the motions, of going through my day dealing with obligations and doing a lot of stuff I just really didn’t even enjoy, and coffee was one of those rare moments in my day that kinda felt like a self-care ritual but also gave me that little extra ‘umph’ to get the job done.” (6:08)  “Does coffee add to the chronic stress issue in a survival driven person? Yes, but not for everyone. If you are constantly in chronic stress or chronic fatigue mode and you are drinking caffeine, and it doesn’t have to be coffee it can be any type of caffeine, if you are drinking that to give you that advantage and keep you going, that’s when we have a situation on our hands.” (12:22) “It is a little bit more complicated than just saying ‘hey, coffee is bad, don’t drink it anymore’, I am not making that statement. I am saying ‘hey, pay attention to your body, see what’s going on. If you can drink coffee and it doesn’t have any profound negative effect on you then keep doing what you are doing, if you are feeling amazing and its doing its job… then keep at it. I want you to do what you love and fuels your body and makes you feel good.” (28:12) “If you are finding yourself exhausted, wound down, and not knowing what’s going on, and you are literally drinking coffee so you can crawl through your day, it’s time to re-evaluate what’s going on because it’s probably not your best friend.” (28:25)   Resources Mentioned: Pick up your copy of the Master Your Energy Guide I'll be speaking at the Candida Summit, and would LOVE for you to come listen for free!
