Last but not least thanks to whom much is given and much is required. The stumbling blocks came my way but my strength came from something more than they knew and he had my back. It continues to grow daily without a spot or wrinkle he never fails.

O NE FRIDAY AFTERNOON, ANDY WAS walking home from school; instead of walking down Ross Street, he took a different route down Silver Street. He continued to walk and noticed an object near a trash can. As Andy walked closer, something was moving. He heard a trash can fall. He looked behind the trash can and saw a puppy hiding in the corner, shaking. Andy dared not pick the puppy up, fearing it might bite him.
The puppy was gold-colored, but it was dirty. Andy finally got the nerve to try picking the puppy up. Andy leaned over, and the puppy screamed.
Andy decided to give the puppy a little time to build its confidence. Andy waited patiently, but in the meantime, he started humming to provide himself with the strength to pick up the puppy.
After 10 minutes, Andy tried to pick the puppy up again, and the puppy allowed him to do so.
Andy wanted to help the puppy, so he ignored how dirty the puppy was and how it smelled like a wet mop.
Andy carried the puppy home in his arms despite how it smelled after walking a little away from where he found it. The puppy went to sleep in his arms.
Andy was getting close to the houses of his friends, Betsy and Dan. They live next door to each other. As he approached their homes, someone called his name. He looked around, and it was Betsy. What do you have in your arms?
Betsy asked.
It’s a puppy,
Andy replied.
I found it in an alley behind a trash can on Main Street. Lord knows how long it had been there with no food or water,
Andy replied.
Have either of you seen this puppy before or know of anyone who has recently had some puppies?
Andy asked.
No,
They both replied.
"Hey guys, what’s up? Dennis asked.
What you doing on this street?
Andy asked.
Just walking around in the neighborhood chilling. What is that in your arms?
Dennis asked.
A puppy,
Andy said.
Where did you find that mutt?
Dennis asked.
Why are you missing a puppy?
Andy asked.
Maybe. No, I change my mind. It looks too disowned to be my puppy,
Dennis said.
Dennis, do you even have any pets?
Andy asked.
No, why are you pretending this puppy could be yours?
Andy asked.
Just kidding, guys,
Dennis said.
Wake up and have a little fun instead of being serious all the time,
Dennis said.
Dennis, you are not wrapped tight. That’s why many people do not care to play with you. You act weird sometimes,
Andy said.
What if I said that is my puppy? Would either of you believe me?
Dennis asked.
Is fat meat greasy?
Andy asked.
See, a person cannot have fun with you guys. All of you are strange,
Dennis said.
Where did you find the puppy?
Dennis asked.
Dan was about to tell Dennis where Andy found the puppy. Betsy put her hand over his mouth to keep him from giving away the location where the puppy was found.
Dennis paid no attention to what Betsy did to Dan. He just kept right on talking. He has always been the center of attraction in anything he is involved in.
Well, it could be my puppy,
Dennis said.
Dipstick, you just said you do not have any pets. Do you really think we did not notice your response about the puppy?
Andy said.
Right,
Betsy and Dan said.
Anyway, I know where you live, Dennis. I found this puppy a long way from your house,
Andy said.
So, we all have caught you in a lie. Do not try and clean it up. This puppy is not yours. Stop lying,
Andy said.
Just playing it is a cute puppy. I was pulling you guys leg did not mean any harm,
Dennis said.
Dennis, you play too much. In other words, your shuck and jiving can cause people to dislike you and possibly get you or someone else in trouble,
Andy said.
That’s right,
Betsy and Dan said.
You three are just squares, spoil-sports, and really boring,
Dennis said.
Bye, Andy and Dan are coming to my house. You are not welcome,
Betsy said.
Bye, I see where you guys are coming from. You did give me the boot because I kid around a lot. No problem, I’m going to reach out to my other friends,
Dennis said.
Everyone went into Betsy’s house to allow Dennis a little time to turn the corner before Andy continued to walk home.
Betsy looked outside down the corner to see if Dennis had left off the street heading anywhere but in their area.
Guys, he is gone,
Betsy said.
The puppy was still asleep despite Dennis’s role-play.
Bye,
Andy said.
Andy continued to walk home with his puppy in his arms.
He finally made it home. He saw his Dad working in the yard.
What do you have in my arms?
Dad asked.
I found a puppy,
Andy said.
Let me see the puppy,
Dad said.
Are you going to keep the puppy? It looks like it will grow into a big puppy,
Dad said.
I want to keep him. May I please?
Andy asked.
I guess you can for right now. When I go to work tomorrow, I’ll print a paper saying lost puppy found, please claim. I’ll also put my contact information on the paper. I’ll put the paper on the telephone poles and the bulletin boards for two weeks,
Dad said.
The puppy woke up making noises.
The puppy is probably hungry. Put it down and let it walk around in the yard. You know we do not have any puppy food,
Dad said.
Yes sir, I know; I thought maybe you would give me some money, and I could go get some food,
Andy said.
Put the puppy in a location where it will not get out. Check around the bottom of the fences for any places that the puppy can get out. The puppy is filthy and needs a bath. You can also be doing this until I get back with the food,
Dad said.
I know you have chores, but let’s take care of the puppy first,
Dad said.
I’m on my way to the store. I’ll pick up a small bag of food. There is no need to buy a large bag since we are not sure we can keep the puppy,
Dad said.
Bye,
Andy said.
Andy started cleaning the puppy up after bathing it as instructed by his Dad. Andy dried the puppy and placed it in an empty clothes basket. He then cleaned the bathroom because it was a mess.
Dad returned from the store with the food. Dad also bought a leash with a collar for the puppy.
Thank you, Dad,
Andy said.
Dad, is this puppy a female or male?
Andy asked.
You do not know? Let’s see. It is a female,
Dad said.
The dog was so nasty and had a stink out of this world. I was trying to hurry up. The puppy would not be still,
Andy said.
Once she eats and drinks some water, it will not be long. She will go to sleep. Her stomach is probably growling. That could be another reason she would not be still,
Dad said.
Andy fed the puppy and put her in the backyard.
Now, this is the opportunity to finish your chores,
Dad said.
Dad, what are we going to do this weekend?
Andy asked.
Is there something you would like to do?
Dad asked.
Saturday, can we go to the movies, and Sunday, let’s go to church?
Andy asked.
Sure, I have no problem making both suggestions,
Dad said.
Andy got up Saturday morning, checked on the puppy, and played basketball in the backyard.
After playing a few hoops, Andy decided to wash up and prepare for the movies. He wanted to be ready when his Dad said it was time to leave.
"Andy, we will leave in an hour to go to
